Will the BL-6.0 installer boot up on "low-RAM systems" (< 768 Mb)? This pre-alpha release doesn't. It writes "Initramfs unpacking failed: write error" on startup screen of 512Mb system.
For 512 Ram or less you should use the Legacy version. I don't think there is a 6.0 Legacy yet, but probably it's a matter of time.
Enligthenment or moksa are frugal, but most programs are not... so even if the installer lets you install it won't help you much. 32 bit is a must for low-ram.

WHEN? I've heard wisperings that it'll be soon. However, you can't rush greatness!
Soon is something relative.
Well... 6.1 is greater than 6.0, 6.2 even more. There's time for greatness afterwards.

In the pre-alpha release, I did not make much of an attempt to minimize the filesystem size or package list. Maybe the actual release will do better in these kinds of low memory situations.

There's an avoidable initramfs error in the Ubuntu 20.04.x and Mint 20.x iso's: easylinuxtipsproject.blogspot.com/p/bugs.html#ID26(item 26) It can easily be fixed by the user, but it'd be nice if that fix wouldn't be necessary in the upcoming Bodhi 6.0 release. It's only a small modification: the Bodhi devs can simply change lz4 into gzip in /etc/initramfs-tools/initramfs.conf....

... simply change lz4 into gzip ... Will this change be safe for fresh installations of BL 6.0 (not for updates from BL 5.1)?

As far as I can tell it is harmless error, but anyways read over the Ubuntu Bug report and notice the last two comments. It should be gone in the BL6 release as we will be using a kernel where this error does not occur. I don't have the msg in dmesg or journalctl -b in my latests ISOs I have been working on.

Hello Due to not being able to use the 5.1 Legacy as described here -> bodhilinux.boards.net/thread/421/problems-5-1-legacy-iso on a Fujitsu Celsius H240 laptop (T7200 C2Duo 2 Ghz 2Gb Ram 160 Gb hdd) I've installed the 6.0 Enligthenment and it works fine. Only serious problem is that the login screen is garbled and cannot see anything. I just type the password and then everything is ok. Can you recommend how to setup the autologin so I don't have this ugly issue? The ligthdm doesn't seem possible ?!

Open terminology
sudo nano /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf
[Seat:*] autologin-guest=false autologin-user=stefan autologin-user-timeout=0
change stefan to your account name
Enjoy

Unfortunately it doesn't work. Maybe E24 is different compared to moksha?! There was no lightdm.conf before so I created one as told by you (with replacing stefan with x - the user for this laptop). In the ligthdm directory I have: The other files have no settings for login.

Try luck with:
sudo nano /etc/gdm3/custom.conf
text inside is selfexplanatory

Can you recommend how to setup the autologin so I don't have this ugly issue? The ligthdm doesn't seem possible ?! Hmm login screen should not be garbled. I wonder if this is a SDDM theme related issue or SDDM not liking your hardware ... Anyway this ISO uses SDDM as a login manager and not lightdm as Bodhi has used for a while. And not gdm as thewaiter suggests above. The reason for this choice is SDDM supports wayland sessions and Enlightenment these days supports wayland (mostly). Many users have been rather curious how e and wayland are coming along, so i picked a DM that supported it. Anyways as to the question of autologin: SDDM supports automatic login through its configuration file. create the folder /etc/sddm.conf.d/ and the file /etc/sddm.conf.d/autologin.conf with the following contents: [Autologin] User=username Session=enlightenment.desktop Be sure to change the string username to your own user name. I rebooted after that in my test that prob is not necessary. I think but did not check this should log you into enlightenment running Xorg and not wayland. Now as to the login screen being garbled, I am unsure. You could try reinstalling the SDDM theme. I am using a debian default: sddm-theme-debian-maui . That may or may not fix your issue. I have an old desktop that simply does not like SDDM. The screen is messed up on it also using it. So perhaps it is a SDDM issue with certain hardware or drivers. I have not taken the time to investigate. If you are not interested in wayland change to lightdm or some other DM that works with your machine, if all else fails.

Thank you Ylee.
In the mean-time I managed to install the 5.1 Legacy on the laptop (I'm writing this message from it). But I'll check your solution to auto-login on another laptop that has 6.0 alpha on a VM.
As for the garbled screen..yes it's all messed up. I also thought that the session manager doesn't like the Radeon X1600 this laptop has.
