EDIT: not sure when I'll switch though.
On 6.1?
It'll be sooner then that, probably in a couple of days or so.
Have stuff to catch up on first, just in case something happens.

I am still using 5.1 and want to know how to simple upgrade to 6. I have tried "sudo apt dist-upgrade" in the terminal but get no result.

Hi liberace You will need to back up and do a fresh install of 6.0. Bit of a win unless you have a separate /home partition but as it’s based on Ubuntu LTS you won’t have to do it again for a long time.

Such a pity. Reinstalling everything including the additional (40) programs and settings costs a lot of time and effort. Also for my wife who installed it and she know little about computers/`How can we easily reinstall the programs en settings? I am sorry i like the program but if i knew this i would not install bodhi

You can sudo apt install programs or use the app centre or synaptic gui. As for I tend to just set them up again. Though you can copy config though this goes belly up sometimes for me hence just redoing stuff. Time consuming but worth it. Maybe set up with a separate /home partition so settings should carry over next time you do it.

I am sorry i like the program but if i knew this i would not install bodhi There are no urgent need to update from Bodhi 5.1 to Bodhi 6.0. Moksha, the themes and modules are all exactly the same. Regardless, anyone who researched Bodhi would know we have never supported updating from one release to another. I would like to in the future, but currently we do not. If you know your way around linux reinstalling all your software can be done via a script and prob would not take long for only 40 programs, depending of course on what they are. If you want help on this (reinstalling your installed apps) post a thread in support or something. It should also be possible to save and use the same settings.

I see the dist version upgrades as a great time to do a system clean up. I see it as a positive.

Users cannot install firefox from bodhi appcenter on BL6. (This was mentioned in another thread but to make sure it's noted here as seems fairly significant issue that most new users will run into. Note apt works fine.)

Well I'm reporting it here as this is the closest we have to a bug tracker; either in this thread or the bl6 beta thread, ylee mentions he wants bugs reported here....
I was mainly reporting it to make sure all of Bodhi Team is aware and I think we should let the experts (probably ylee as its possibly related to his new apturl) figure it out. I'm fairly confident they can figure out why it isnt working and make it work, and if its something on bodhi side include it in an update (and future isos), or if something on the appcenter website get the team member in charge of that to fix it from that side.

Anyway regardless apturl-saf in the BL6.0 repo should resolve this issue.

The 5.11.x kernel is just around the corner as HWE kernel for Ubuntu 20.04; it's already in the semi-official Canonical Kernel Team PPA: launchpad.net/~canonical-kernel-team/+archive/ubuntu/ppaWhen it arrives in the repo's of Focal, will the iso of Bodhi 6's HWE Release be respun with it? Might be desirable because of support for brand-new hardware....
