As the singe-app-launch was a feature you guys werent even aware of, I imagine I'm the only one that tested it, and I've concluded it's too flakey for me to use. I've given up on using ibar as a dock, its too inconsistent for me, only works right 96.42% of the time. However, this post is about some unreported observations! I finally installed on an actual machine instead of VM, and it's working wonderfully. And I have a few more comments/observations. 1. Please set QT5 default icon theme! When changing application theme from settings panel, it only sets it for gtk. It's not setting it for QT as well. I was able to do so with an app called qt5ct but havent figured out how to do it manually (by editing text files) yet. 2. During live boot when it asks language/keyboard, I can't use arrows and enter. It **requires** mouse to click ok. 3. With default mokshagreen theme, the bookmark list in epiphany looks bad.
4. Being able to adjust icon size on shelf is nice, but it only half works.
4a. Size 1 is especially bad. Icons in systray dont resize . Ethernet icon doesn't fit. Moksha modules like cpu cannot be read because the font size doesnt scale. 4b. Could improve CPU module. i.e. for size 2, just display the number and not the percent symbol, as the percent symbol takes most of the room and the number is truncated. 4c: It would be much much better if one could set the size for each individual gadget (like the plain/inset setting, how bout size there) instead of everything at once. This would allow making things look good. 5. During live, and after install, shelf icons are all jumbled up, not organized. (This is more an issue for beta/RC than alpha) 6. Default install has a zillion GTK2 themes, why? Does anything besides hexchat still use them? (Remove gtk2 only themes!) 7. No MokshaArk theme in repository. I like to use the white power button (syscon) from there as I usually set all the items next to my tray to white/grey.

I see the PPA that contains the nvidia-340 driver, along with the mozillateam PPA for firefox & firefox-esr, are included by default.
Firstly, although I have no problem adding those PPAs for myself, when I mentioned them, I was more thinking maybe we could mirror or copy the packages into the Bodhi repo. I think it looks kinda ugly seeing PPA's the first time one runs sudo apt update! And for the 95%+of people who don't need nvidia-legacy driver, seeing that ppa every single time they update might be annoying, and wastes a few seconds of time. (Although coincidentally, two of my four computers use it...).
Additionally, it doesn't install nvida-340 automatically with Bodhi. I selected the "updates" and "3rd party" boxes, but it didn't automatically install the driver. However, on first boot after running updates, running "sudo ubuntu-drivers install" did install it automatically and it works great. [Chrome and chromium have accelerated webgl - I can get over 30fps with 500 fish on the aquarium test on webglsamples.org, whereas with firefox unaccelerated I can't even hit 10fps. Not to mention it hardware decodes h264 video in most video players allowing 720p.]
I imagine the reason we can't just mirror or copy the packages directly into bodhi repo is cuz of signatures or something, they'd have to be signed by Bodhi? Or is that not right? Anyways I dunno ideal solution here, just think it looks messy using PPA's by default. (But better than not offering the packages at all.)

Re:phased updates
I personally have decided to disable it, only because, I don't like seeing there's packages held back. I do understand the idea tho, canonical figures by doing that if someone finds a problem early they can prevent it from affecting the rest of us. The idea is solid. I just don't like the way it's implemented I guess for superficial reasons. None of the packages that it held back ever mattered to me or anything, I just dont like seeing held back.
So, do I think Bodhi should stick with them, or disable by default, that's the question. Both ways are fine, but I think if I were the one making the decision, I'd disable them for Bodhi 7 release. Let ubuntu users be confused for a while, and I imagine they'll probably improve it, cuz there's a big bug report about how confusing it is now and people don't like the way its implemented. I think everyone's like me - they think the idea is okay, just don't like the way its presented, and it'll probably be improved in time, so by Bodhi 8 maybe worth implementing.

Re: esm updates
When I first saw this on my primary laptop, running Bodhi 5.1, I thought it was because it's nearing EOL. In fact, it's only got a few more weeks before Ubuntu's 5 years of support are up. I decided to sign up and try it, and yep it works fine.
I was surprised to see the same thing on my Bodhi 6 machine tho, since it's not close to EOL... what the heck...
And they're here on Bodhi 7 too?!@# Canonical is holding back updates unless people register with them? Yeah, I know its free and good for 5 machines, so I could certainly add it to my other boxes. But I don't quite get it, I guess I need to do some reading, why are they doing it on focal and jammy?
And the question for Bodhi is, do we want to hide that info? We can disable those messages, so users won't see them, if we think it'll annoy/confuse users more than needed. And people can still register with canonical if they want....
Anyway I don't get this one so well, but curious on others opinions, should bodhi 7 include those ads for ubuntu pro during apt updates?

2. During live boot when it asks language/keyboard, I can't use arrows and enter. It **requires** mouse to click ok. You need to click into ilist (or use tab?) and use arrows or even type text to search. I fixed a search box which will appear in the middle of visible ilist area. Works in all ilists around the Moksha desktop. It should be fixed. I completely reworked GTK theme I made a serious work on this issue. It took me ages but now all gadgets respect icons size. I devoted my extra effort to systray module and its crop issue. Maybe it needs more testings but it works fine here for all scales, shelf sizes and icons sizes. Changes will be noticable in new ISO. Or compile Moksha by your self. Yes, this really happened. We are not sure why. I thought it was solved in alpha5 ISO. Of course not. MokshaGreen and default e17 themes are only preinstalled themes. Others are needed to install. Stefan

Re No. 7.: MokshaArktheme
It's not in bodhi-theme-pack package, or available in repo than I can find....

OK, I added a tweak for CPU module. Once merged CPUs option is enabled and gadcon client is less than 48 pixels, the value will be without % char. More over I fixed vertical center issue.
Stefan
PS1: you cause ylee an headache as he needs to package my work again and again according your requests. PS2: for your overcustomed requests it is time to think about learning edje layer theming. I told you that many times... PS3: thanx for BL7 feedback

PS1 I hope is half joking. The only reason I'm reporting this stuff is FYI, you don't have to take action on anything you don't consider a good idea... I can stop commenting/suggesting if you want... I suggest set up automated method to package. Isn't the whole point of alpha release to solicit user feedback? As far as I know we don' thave a public issue tracker/buzilla/etc to report such stuff/etc. PS2 I dunno, I had trouble even dealing with icons themes even at the user level cuz not everything follows xdg-spec or things dont update right away, etc. I don't wanna venture into something that isn't fully documented again, as last thing like that I tried to help with drove me crazy. I think if I want to learn a new thing to help Bodhi it would be packaging.
PS3 You're welcome.
I took notes last night while drinking and evaluating BL7 on my athlon, and some of my notes aren't clear, hmmmm. Liek I have no idea what I meant by "power center" or something about devices/display. I did find it interesting there's something called "debian-view" that is associated with deb files (thru xdg-open) that can install them - it didnt even need my password according my notes - but I need to check it out more but had never seen that before...
Since terminology supports graphics, and so does neofetch, I've often used a nice bodhi leaf png when sharing neofetch screenshots. It seems there is no such png anywhere in icons or emblems....
Icons-Moksha-Green suggestions:
remove the following flat icons from the applications menu: cateogories/nvidia-settings cateogories/preferences-system-network categories/system-help categories/xscreensaver categories/preferences-desktop-locale After that, figure out why settings panel doesn't have green icons for settings and like 3 other things and add their icons, they were probably linked to what was deleted (and shouldn't be), or moksha code not using good icon name. [Leave the Preferences and System entries alone, they seem to duplicates of app menu as well as things hidden in app menu.]
Add color icons for lxtask and pavucontrol to this theme or to default hicolor. Right now MokshaGreen has fallback to gnome icon set so they work, but if user or we remove gnome icon set, they are blank. We should not depend on gnome icons anymore, even gnome uses Adwaita icons now...
If there is a git repo I can PR, I'll do that myself if you prefer....
MokaGreen theme: the 3D speaker gadget doesnt really match the other flat icons even tho its cool looking
System Tray Bug
When nothing is in tray it displays a plain white rectangle. this seems to be an actual bug. I removed network from startup apps to save memory, and that white box seems to be there all the time....
smtube broken (fixed upstream)
the version in jammy repo is too old to use yt-dlp and thus doesnt work. This is very useful youtube player for old hardware that cant play HD videos in browser. The newer upstream version from ppa works fine. They don't offer a flatpak version. Newer version in bodhi repo would be useful.
extremetuxracer regression?
this is an old 3D game that even works on gpu that only supports gl1 The version in jammy repo doesnt work for me on hardware (stil need to test other pc and VM). I tried the newer flatpak and same problem. I tried the focal package (on BL7) and it works fine.
By not work, it means when I start it, it does some graphical glitch (makes the taskbar twice) and I hear the music in the background. But desktop itself is frozen, cant quit game with ctrl-alt-x or esc or antyhing. Have to open TTY and kill it.

1. Yep, half joking/half frustrated. Frustrated means, I always think I had done everything that should be done but you always find some bugs, lol. Of course keep commenting. We all need a perfect distro. 2. Package maintainer would be ultra cool to have. All this stuff sorta falls on Ylee. I can do that also but coding/theming/support/YT_videos really engage me.
I will look at white sqaure box in systray this weekend by all means. It shouldn´t be hard to fix. Other items are worth considering. I am not sure how far is Robert with ISO. I hope he will not do extra work.

It means the locale icon is not green in settings panel after its deleting. Not sure I can do something with that. Stefan

227 MB RAM looks great. What customizations have you done related to RAM?

227 MB RAM looks great. What customizations have you done related to RAM?
Customiation intended to reduce memory usage: Replace gnome's policy kit with lxpolkit in startup apps (originally an experiment, but seems to work fine). Remove network from startup apps (once configured, its not needed in tray anymore)
Unload unused (in this configuration) modules: pager, gadgets, keyboard
Customization that may have reduced memory usage:
disable everything except app menu and calculator in quicklauncher
reduce number of virtual desktops from 4 to 1
remove start menu from shelf remove notifications from shelf remove clipboard from shelf disable screenblanking
Customization that may have increased memory usage: add picom to startup apps
add xscreensaver to startup script add quicklauncher to shelf
load cpu module and add to shelf
load mem module and add to shelf
load settings module and add to shelf
enable an edge binding (bottom right corner click for show desktop)
Additional Customization likely unrelated to memory usage: change to alternate shelf style
messed with the icons a bit, doing those changes I suggested in this thread earlier, plus adding the square category icons from Enlightment-x (which appear to have gotten them from Faenza) moved clock to shelf and set digital with strftime increased shelf icon size to 4 Installed and set gtk theme to Adwaita-dark installed lots of apps/games, including flatpak and lots of flatpak apps/games.
That's all I can think of of.
