Bodhi Linux 7 Alpha5 is out with a number of improvements: sourceforge.net/projects/bodhidev/files/7.0.0-alpha/Only one outstanding issue and that is the Lightdm autologin, if that is checked during installation it does not work during first boot but will on any later boots. For reasons still not clear to me ... This will probably be our last unofficial development release.

Thanks for your work and the new alpha version! Looks like things coming together nicely! I been playing with it a bit already, and thought of some things to mention. Some of them of course were already there in alpha4, just didn't mention previously... and in time I'll sure I'll come up with some more observations.... but this is looking quite nice now!
1. Installer ISO EFI Mode doesn't show bodhi-tree-monk boot menu background. (works in legacy boot mode)
2. Live Mode has no clock gadget on shelf or desktop (perhaps by design? but why?)
3. After install, the first upgrade held-back xserver-common xserver-xorg-core xserver-xorg-legacy, but they can be force upgraded manually. Why held back?
4. shim-signed package won't upgrade (errors about base-files)
5. No Green bash prompt in the terminal like BL6.
6. picom has no icon in menu (upstream issue, but bodhi could solve by including one in pixmaps or hicolor or default icon theme etc)
7. webext-ublock-origin-firefox works! webext-ublock-origin-chromium doesn't. Not critical cuz user can install from outside repo.
8a. MokshaGreen Theme: Some of the extra modules shelf icons colors don't match the others, i.e. Deskshow, Settings, Mem, CPU, and Calendar. 8b. The Calendar popup doesn't really match, and the month and year difficult to read and sometimes truncates year as 2... which makes it pointless)
9. Tclock Module: It would be nice to be able to center one line in the shelf when the other is disabled, instead of top half or bottom half only.
10. I've had the app-active dot remain on thunar in the Ibar when it's closed. Here one way to cause it: A. Open thunar from ibar by normal left click on it.
B. Open another thunar window from ibar by right click and select "Home". C. Close both thunar instances from their normal window close X.
11. Moving a gadget from desktop to shelf with right click/move-to works and keeps settings. Moving a gadget from shelf to desktop with right click/move-to keeps the original on shelf and a new one on desktop with default settings.

Thanx for you feedback Enigma
I will look at extra modules theming soon. We are working very hard to cover all stuff for last BL7 ISO. Some stuff left to do. I did not check thunar in alpha5 but I can not reproduce in BL6 I have installed. Thunar has apparently different desktop file to show extra menu in ibar. Anyway, firefox has this menu and I can not see any troubles with dot indicator. I will do some more tests tho.
5. No green bash prompt? Be more specific in details pls.

Thanks for your astute observations and feedback Thanks for your work and the new alpha version! Looks like things coming together nicely! I been playing with it a bit already, and thought of some things to mention. Some of them of course were already there in alpha4, just didn't mention previously... and in time I'll sure I'll come up with some more observations.... but this is looking quite nice now! ... I will take a look at the various packaging issues you note above. BTW It is not on the new alpha but I have found a solution to the lightdm autologin issue you noted: I've been playing with the alpha4 iso and have some notes to share. Let me know what is unclear! edit: numbered things for reference
Bugs/Issues ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1. told it to autologin during installation and it didnt on first login (it did after) It will be on the set of ISOs I make Thanx for you feedback Enigma ... 5. No green bash prompt? Be more specific in details pls. Stefan I know what he is talking about, clearly I edited /etc/skel/.bashrc in the BL6 ISO and turned the colored prompt on. I will add this to the next ISO.

... 3. After install, the first upgrade held-back xserver-common xserver-xorg-core xserver-xorg-legacy, but they can be force upgraded manually. Why held back? ... Forgot to mention Ubuntu holds packages back sometimes for whatever reasons. You can google that. This has nothing to do with me or the ISO.

I'm having some kinda bug where an open window doesn't appear in ibar. See screenshot, chromium is running, but its not in ibar. I have been working without tasks module, so I had to alt-tab to bring chromium back, because it was minimized and I didn't even realize it was running.... I have no idea how repeatable this is.. but unless its a complete fluke, seems like real problem.... restart moksha doesn't resolve it.

OK, maybe you played with iBar settings too much, lol. Check iBar settings and item "Don't add items on launch" will cause this functionality. Let's hope it is that Stefan i.imgur.com/SHWq1Gr.png

I understand that setting (it'll revert to old behavior of just a quick launcher), but that wasn't it.... other apps are showing up, it's just this case where chromium isn't and not sure why. I've since rebooted and behaving normally again, but if it happens again I'll save a snapshot in that state for further analysis incase its useful... I guess it isn't happening to everyone else who's testing so maybe a fluke...

Configuration, cpufreq and memory gadgets themed. I am tired... Awesome! I hate to say it tho... but it's the cpu % gadget I was thinking of, not the freq. Of course doing the freq one is great too, just not one I've ever used or thought to test. The cpu % gadget from arcgreen is fine tho if you just change the color to mokshagreen color instead of arcgreen color... and if that's what you did with memory, that's good too, although if you did something new, I'm sure that'll be wonderful also As to tired, well you know none of this theme stuff is actually release critical, just "polish", and you're welcome to ignore any of my feedback. But I think/hope you're half joking and kinda enjoy working on this st uff!
And for the screenshots; there's three shelves there. Invisible one in the middle bigger than others and allows window underlap.. one on the left with regular icon size... one on the right with icon size 1. And of course I've customized the quicklauncher to be huge and one click and gotten rid of all the extra stuff besides apps and settings. (Using Arcgreen cpu and memory modules for now)

1. Installer ISO EFI Mode doesn't show bodhi-tree-monk boot menu background. (works in legacy boot mode) Yes and Bodhi Linux 6.0 did not show a background image there either. Do you know of any linux distro that has a background image there? 2. Live Mode has no clock gadget on shelf or desktop (perhaps by design? but why?) Stefan and I were talking about whether to restore the clock to the shelf in digital form and remove it completely from the desktop. But we never really made a decision and I removed from the ISO profile code until we made a decision. It will be fixed at some point before the next ISO. 3. After install, the first upgrade held-back xserver-common xserver-xorg-core xserver-xorg-legacy, but they can be force upgraded manually. Why held back? As already noted a Ubuntu issue 4. shim-signed package won't upgrade (errors about base-files) It is odd to me that this package requires a 32-bit version of the base-files pkg in the repos but it does. Should be fixed now. 5. No Green bash prompt in the terminal like BL6. Nice catch. I have that in my Bodhi Linux 6 notes. At some point, I would review them to make sure BL7 has everything relevant. But anyways added to the VM I use to make the ISO. 6. picom has no icon in menu (upstream issue, but bodhi could solve by including one in pixmaps or hicolor or default icon theme etc)
Stefan added an icon to his MokshaGreen Theme. I might use it and add it to hicolor as well in one of my bodhi-* packages. 7. webext-ublock-origin-firefox works! webext-ublock-origin-chromium doesn't. Not critical cuz user can install from outside repo. I am unsure about this. It would be nice to get it to work. But I spent some time on it and I couldn't get chromium to recognize the extension. Despite the fact that in Debian which still has chromium in the repos as a deb file this package works fine and it appears to be the same package. I will take another look at it. 11. Moving a gadget from desktop to shelf with right click/move-to works and keeps settings. Moving a gadget from shelf to desktop with right click/move-to keeps the original on shelf and a new one on desktop with default settings. A good idea maybe but we will not be adding any new features to Moksha at this point. We have had and still have enough issues some serious with the new features added in the past.

Cool Beans!
1. As to other distro with background image on efi boot, sorry dunno. I only recently started clicking the uefi box in virtualbox (mainly cuz it gives me bigger resolution starting window) and my real machines are all legacy boot. So I have no idea, but I guess by the way you replied it's not typical! No worries!
2. I vote shelf digital, but the thought crossed my mind that maybe you avoided it live since live users have not set their timezone, and windows users might have system clock set to local time, so clock would be wrong, and the method for setting time from the clock gadget is a little bit quirky - although I haven't tested it live where the password doesnt matter, maybe its simpler there.....
3. phased-updates.... still reading about those....
5. On alpha 3 you mentioned you werent quite ready for feedback. With alpha 4 I held back a tiny bit, but with alpha5 I thought it's okay to mention anything at all. But now I wonder what I missed from your "list"!
11. Fair enough. I just noticed the behavior when moving things back and forth wasnt consistent so mentioned it, half my notes are observations and I definately understand sometimes better to not mess with something that is still perfectly usable, which it is now, especially when trying to finalize.

As I think I noted above installed chromium from synaptic and added ublock origin (all on alpha 4) which all works fine. Apologies if I have misinterpreted the above post.
