Hello!! I am new here and would like to introduce myself briefly. For 20 years now I've been annoyed with Windows systems and for 8 years with Apple systems. However, I must say that I really liked WXP 64Bit and Vista.
Both systems ran error-free and very stable for me. I never had bluescreens.
In the last 8 months I have now tested several Linux distributions but none has really pleased me. Then I came across your website and tested the 6.1 beta with Desktop Enlightenment. I am totally thrilled. I have never seen such a beautiful Linux. The beta is the most beautiful system and also the installation worked wonderfully. There are still small text errors in a few places but on the whole it is great. The only problem I have is the graphics card. I have an Imac11,2 with an ATI HD4670 graphics card. This is not recognized. Therefore I always have to start with -nomodeset-. If I can activate this card, I would be soooo happy. Greetings from Europe Gini PS: English isnt my motherlanguage, so please be patient with me.

Greetings, @gini and welcome to Bodhi Linux and our forum. We really appreciate your kind words. Our devs run on kind words and thank yous It's interesting to see that you are coming from Apple - we get a fair amount of windows converts but I don't recount many Apple users. A fair amount of users try to replicate those environments with Bodhi Linux. That said, many users find how customizable Moksha is to be better than either and come up with a new way of doing things. Regardless, good luck on your adventure! For your video issue, however, I'm not terribly sure - from what I know ATI should work out of the box. That said, one of our advanced users can likely get you going. By the way, your English is fine!

Huhuh Oblio :-)
Thank you very much. I can imagine that mostly these people try to use to imitate Apple OSX who may never had a OSX at home. But i can say that ( in my mind and my opinion) OSX is a really lame OS. Why? Well, I am a user who do not only wants to have a system that always looks the same and which has no real possibilty to change the look and feel of a OS. The next horror for me is, that Apple brings out every year a new OS and with every new release, you get a bunch of bloatware, which i do not want to have and which i find(!) mostly senseless. ( Just my personal opinion) . The best OS from Apple was Snow Leopard. Gosh i loved it. It was slim, fast, and i could do some "skinning" to make it look more nicer. But.... Apple decided not to use it anymore, years ago, and that ment, that newer Apple computer did not support SL anymore. There were no kexts anymore for SL for newer hardware. ( Kexts= kind of drivers for hardware) So, one only had the choice to stay forever with one computer type from Apple or to use a newer Apple hardware system with bloatware. But you cannot install SL on a newer Apple hardware. This made me angry. And of course... every OSX that came after SL were not able to be "skinned, modded" anymore. You even couldnt change the menu colors...... nothing! You had to have the ugly old look of the desktop aso... just the icons changed from version to version, a little bit. I hated that. But also the system performance was getting slower and slower from version to version.Well..... and Windows .... LOL i guess i dont have to say much about it... But i liked VISTA. It worked very well on my other computer. Problem: Newer software didnt work anymore with VISTA. Its a kernel problem.
Well... :-(

Are you sure you're not using video drivers already?
I think nomodeset option just prevents the kernel from setting the video mode before the desktop loads. You should still be able to set a high res mode from the desktop, and enlightenment has a built-in setting for that (which is different than standard bodhi which uses external app for that).
If you chose the enlightenment version for a specific reason, no worries, but if not I'd suggest switch to regular Bodhi before you get too far along.
To check out your video drivers maybe share with us results of "inxi -G".

I haven't really spent much time with any Apple OSes - I used to build systems and most of my users requested Windows. A few Linux boxes. Regardless, my "Apple" friends also really liked Snow Leopard. I'm personally a huge proponent of keeping older systems alive. And a light, stable OS.
I jumped full time to Bodhi Linux back in early Win7 days. Other than work and school where it is more-or-less mandated, I haven't looked back. Bodhi Linux is great - I highly recommend seeing what it can do. I'm still learning new features!

Yes yes, the screen resolution is 1920x1080 and the color is fine, but the thing is, linux has problems with that RV730 ATI card cause of the Imac / how Apple has build it into the motherboard. Therefore , Linux cant deal with it and uses the generic driver without hardware acceleration. But not only Linux had its problem with it. The same is with Windows. When I once tried to install Windows 7, 8 and 10 on a partition of the hard disk, the same problem occurs. Booting into a black screen. Linux also does that. Without nomodset, its booting into black screen. For unknown reasons, Windows 8,10 and Linux have the problem to "switch" into the correct video. While its booting. I tried several parameters, nomodeset ( this works but without the radeon driver and without HWacc) noplymouth (cause it may / could have been that there is a problem with....but didnt help too.
I was trying the other Bodhi version, same problem and.... it didnt worked with moksha that much fast and great looking like with enlightenment. This is so sad... cause the beta works so fast and smooth and beautyfully..... but what will i do without that HW acc?...
Its sooooo sad. Gosh i love that beta. <3
I will do that inxi -G and will post the result later here.

Hi Gini
Welcome to the forums and community. It’s great that your search for a sensible OS and desktop environment brought you here. It’s a shame about your issue, but please feel free to open a thread on the support boards and we can try to get to the bottom of it.

Believe me.... the newer the Apple Os is.... the harder it is to deal with it... and as i said... that bloatware... !!!!!
I have stopped testing at OS Version Mojave. Cause i couldnt stand that anymore. Everywhere restrictions to touch the system, bloatware that always wants to connect anytime to the internet, no way for tuning the system in a way that you could say " ..Okay.. now its working more smooth and without these endless phoning home and sending "things" to somewhere..." ...no way. The only things you can do is to use 2 or 3 tools (Onyx, Deeper aso...) to clean the system of waste, every day and to push some "knobs" to make the system a little bit more responsive. Thats all you can do... Oh i love older systems a lot. Guess, on my other computer (lol i have 4, these are all my "kids" from the past) i am using on one WindowsXp 64-bit, works wonderful, especially for older software that does not work with Vista and above, another one with Windows 2000 , works great too, and ...of course my big "Darling" a selfbuild one, a big one :-D with 4 Hard disks on every HD another system. 1) Vista 2) Hackintosh Yosemite 3) Windows 7 4) storage for my musicfiles ( i am making music for my own with singing and keyboards aso... that partition i need to save the songs.)
Yes that Bodhi Beta Version is a masterpiece!!!!!

Dear Bodhi Family. It was very nice to be with you. I was able to learn something about Linux here and discovered the beautiful Bodhi version for myself. I have now decided to leave the forum. I thank you very much for the trust Hippy has placed in me and I will certainly take some of the experience with me. Now i am going to delete my account. I wish you all the best!
