I have had recurring issues on various Bodhi installs, mostly on old hardware, where my video resolution was not right and was not correctible. Text looked squashed, or I was stuck at 1024x768. I complained a lot, and reinstalled a lot. But I was finally given a simple answer that works.
Go into terminal.
sudo ubuntu-drivers autoinstall
Reboot, and it's fixed. I hope this helps someone besides me. It was driving me crazy, and the fix was simple.
