I'm completely new to Bodhi. I just installed the HWE 64 bit version of 5.1.0 to 2GHZ dual-core Asus (X71Q), bought in 2007. It runs extremely smoothly. I just have two questions:
1. Is it possible to create Desktop links, e.g. for terminal, browser, etc. 2. It has come with kernel version 5.3. How do I install version 5.4.
Many thanks for your help & looking forward to being part of the community forum.

Hello there and welcome on board 1. Sure it is possible to have desktop icons. You have several possibilities. I will show 2 of them: 1a. Menu-Settings-modules-Files(tab)-Desktop icons. Load module and copy desktop files from /usr/share/applications (Terminology.desktop) to home/Desktop folder. 1b. Place iBar gadget to desktop from Menu-Settings-Gadgets-Background. Then add all apps to iBar launcher. 2. As I do not feel myself as expert, I will suggest 2 methods how to install newer kernel from terminal. I believe some guys here will provide some additional info: HWE edition should install newer kernel after distro upgrade sudo apt update && sudo apt dist-upgrade in case of troubles try this method: sudo apt update && sudo apt install linux-headers-5.4.0-72-generic && sudo apt install linux-image-5.4.0-72-generic I did not try this version so I can not guarantee full functionality. My advice is: if your HW is fully detected and working fine, do nothing, just enjoy Bodhi Stefan

Hi mimi
Welcome to the forums and community. I think Stefan covered the support questions you had, but please ask future questions, if you have any, in the support boards. It’s not a massive deal but it helps keep the forums organised, and others with the same questions are more likely to find it there.
I hope you managed to get things sorted. 🙂

Hi Mimi, Looks like your questions already been answered, but if 1b was unclear, here's a video showing how to do it without loading desktop icons.
As to your kernel, assuming you've ran updates, it won't show the new version until you actually reboot.
