Hi - I am new to Bodhi but not to linux. I have been using Linux Mint since 2013 after coming over from Ubuntu. I cut my teeth on Suse back in 2011. Windows is a distant memory so when folks ask me for help there I am useless and can count on the fingers of one hand how many times I have actually been on a Mac.
Speaking of Mac what got me onto Bodhi was someone gave be a very old MacBook laptop with a puny Intel Core2 Duo P8600 CPU and 2Gb of RAM. I have been running LM Cinnamon on pretty powerful desktops and laptops for years but that was just not going to fly on this resource challenged rig. I tried several other supposedly "light" distros but with so so results. Then I tried Bodhi and was impressed with the performance. Coming over from Mint and the Cinnamon desktop meant a bit of a learning curve but I pretty much got things where I want them. I stayed with the DE (to stay light) but did replace the file manager with nemo and the the terminal with Gnome terminal. I also configured zram and a few Firefox performance tweaks and I am pretty pleased with the results.
I have a few questions - nothing major - that I will submit in separate threads on items that I may need little help with if I can't figure things out in the next day or two. But overall I am very pleased that I discovered this OS.
