Dear fellow Bodhi Linux yousers,
I am a linux user for quite some time an my old laptop (debian 10 / lxde deskto) died recently. I decided to switch to another (but debian / ubuntu) based distibution. After some search ... I decided to give bodhi a try (in favour of lubuntu, which would have been my second choice.
Unfortunately I did not succeed installing bodhi on my new Asus lapptop, and you might very soon find me writing a question :-)
Best regards from Switzerland
Sebastian

Hello and Welcome
We will wait for your questions. But maybe I will ask sooner. What method of creating bootable USB did you choose? We had many issues related to unetbootin. Rufus on Windows with dd option enabled is one of the working solutions. Anyway, we are here for you to help.

Welcome to the forums and community. As the waiter said, the main issue for new users is using the right tool to create the live usb, but more details on how exactly the installation failed will help us help you.

Oh thanks a lot for all your fast replies.
I have the following issues installing bodhi linux on a new Asus BR1100CKA laptop:
I have downloaded the latest Hwe Release, verifed the download via ist mmd5 checksum and then created a bootable usb stick via the dd command. After disabling "fast boot" and "secure boot" in the uefi I can boot into the live system with no errors reportet by the checks beforehand.
But when I try to install to the disk (emmc) the installation fails with the following error:
"The ext4 file system creation in partition #2 of MMC/SD card #1 (mmcblk0) failed.
So far I have tried the following: install lvm with encryption, default install, partition the disk by hand. I also tried to install with secure boot switched on . I have no idea where I have to look for a detailed log file and I have no idea what else I could try.
I could really need some help. Please.
Regards
Sebastian

I have no idea where I have to look for a detailed log file and I have no idea what else I could try.
I do not believe bodhi supports secure boot (unless we inherited it from ubuntu or something) so I think turning that off was good idea. And disabling fast boot sounds like something worth trying. And if machine is new using hwe kernel seems like logical version to try, so to me sounds like you're on the right track....
The installer is called ubiquity and there is a way to get a log from it... lemee look into that and edit this (unless someone else answers first...)

I installed Bodhi 6 on my new Lenovo Idepad 3. It failed at the end of installing process. But it was not the same reason as far as I remember. What I did was booting to the live session and fixed the grub with boot-repair tool. More info here help.ubuntu.com/community/Boot-RepairStefan

Ah I lost this thread earlier as it's in the welcome area instead of troubleshooting and obviously the topic didn't remind me.
I haven't determined for sure where the installer log is. I read that ubiquity stores the logs in /var/log but not sure how to use that info cuz it looks like everything else does too, based on taking a look in my /var/log and it's full of stuff. There is a folder called installer in there, but it also is full of stuff.
Gnome's log viewer may make this easier to analyze, which I have already installed....
sudo apt install gnome-logs
That being said, I still haven't found the installation log... and I've spent more than an hour looking. Hopefully somebody who understands can answer.
