Good day. Please excuse if this is in the wrong section. This is my first post. I have been looking for a light Linux OS to run on an old Dell laptop. Bodhi is the only one that I could get to run. I like several of the features so would like to continue to use it. I am running 64bit and have downloaded everything current so I should be up to date.
I created a new user sudo adduser test sudo adduser test sudo I can log into the test user id and I believe it should have root permissions. I now have 2 user ids, the first one that came with the system and a test userid. In the test userid, when I go to System, neither Restart nor Poweroff work?? They work fine for the first user that came with the system. I created a 3rd user and it also does not allow Restart nor Poweoff to work. Did I miss something while setting up the system? thanks...

Hi Senioruser, welcome to the forums. You might need to add your test user to the correct user group.
sudo usermod -aG sudo test

wow, thanks for the quick response. I did as suggested sudo usermod -aG sudo test but still same results. I did reboot. Of the 6 items in the list, only Lock and Logoff are active, the other - Suspend, Hibernate, Reboot, Poweroff - are not selectable.

Did some reading about sudo usermod. I tried some things but none seemed to work sudo usermod -a -G user1 test sudo usermod -aG user1 test If I read this correctly, test should now be added to group user1 which I guess means that it would work the same as user1?

I'm guessing as I've never used another user acocunt, but maybe check the user you created is in all the same groups as the user created by the bodhi installer
groups user1 to see a list of groups user1 is a member of.

SOLVED
I manually added to the test and user2 ids the following sudo usermod -a -G xxxx test
where xxxx is the following, adm, dip, plugdev, lpadmin, cdrom I think it was the adm group that was missing.
thanks for the help...
