I had not heard of this app but have come to like it very much since you mentioned it here, thanks parman. I've been struggling trying to find the appropriate youtube solution for my 7 year olds, and this works really well. By using the settings to hide a bunch of stuff to only show what they're subscribed to, and subscribing to specific channels, it's really great. I popped into their matrix chatroom to ask if there was a way to hide search bar too, I was walked thru way to hide it thru editing CSS (which works), but also pointed to a PR that'll add all sorts of parental controls, including hiding the search bar. So very cool.
Being electron based tho, it's not super light, basically has the same overhead as a full web browser, but it is what it is, and what it is is pretty cool.
As I chatted with their dev, he said if there's a change you make to deb package he could make upstream to improve stuff with his build script, he'd probably implement it @ ylee ... |
