Is there something I can download, a package maybe, that will render emoticons in color when viewed on the web? Lubuntu renders these okay, as does Windows 10. So I don't know what's missing in Bodhi (Ubuntu 18.04.6 LTS), and would like to add it. Here is an example of the issue: imgur.com/a/b5JX4ivepages.wordpress.com/Thanks.

Weird; works for me on my Bodhi 5.1 system. I assume yer talking about that blue basketball-looking thing to the right of the EARTHPAGES.ORG thing right?
Firefox:
Google Chrome:
Epiphany (gnome-web):
My only one that isn't working already...

Here is a solution that I tested on Bodhi 6 for chromium (which also has similar issue): sudo apt install fonts-noto-color-emoji It should work on bodhi 5.1 for chrome too, but since my chrome is working already on 5.1 (and I dont have that package installed) I can't test as easy.

ylee This package might be good to include as recommended for chromium (and preinstalled on future iso). It does make it look more modern/nice and the kinda thing many people (like me) would never even notice or be aware we're missing something until somebody else points it out. [Thanks msea!]

enigma9o7 - That's interesting that the last one isn't working. Thanks for that. enigma9o7 and ylee - The package works! Thanks so much. The only thing I noticed is that the emojis still do not colorize in the Chrome tab. They do work now, however, on the actual web page. I wonder if there is something else I can do to get the emojis to colorize in the Chrome tab, as they do with Windows 10. The emojis are from the Chrome addon "Joypixels" (not sure if that is relevant or not).🤔

[Thanks msea!] Yeah I agree on adding it as a recommended package. I can also include it on the ISOs in the future. I also never would have noticed the icons not being colorized in chrome/chromium either on those sites using them. Maybe not great website design to make assumptions about what fonts I have installed. By default Bodhi comes with almost no fonts at all preinstalled compared to the huge list of them preinstalled on Ubuntu or Lubuntu.

I sort of like that it's incredibly minimal to begin with.👍 I'd donate if I could but am doing my own kind of 'volunteer work' and haven't seen a paycheck for many, many years... If I strike it rich, donations will follow...🙂
