Hi, One point of information I haven't been able to find is the sizes of the downloads. I'd like to know which of the options fit on a CD-ROM. Would that be good information to be added on the download page?
My understanding is that the support for USB memory installation in PCs did't work so well at first and I don't know since when it has been working "de-facto" -- which, I guess, varies from manufacturer to manufacturer.
Best, Vesa

You're right, if you start from bodhilinux.com, the iso sizes are not shown, but they are on sourceforge. For example 6.0 releases are here:
But nope, nothing current from Bodhi fits on a CD. Standard is around 875MB and Apppack around 1.7GB.
I think it would be really cool to make legacy fit on a CD tho, it's been discussed before.... dunno if there's much chance of it happening or not tho, the 6.0beta is at 950 now (but I have no idea if unnecessary stuff has been removed or not yet, etc).
There are other ways to install if your BIOS can't boot from USB, for example if you already have grub on there, you can have grub boot the iso. Or there are boot CDs that allow you to boot from USB if your bios really doesn't support it. But if your only option is CD, something worth noting is that Debian offers a net installer that fits on CD, but there is no live session available on it and it requires an internet connection.

Thanks for your caring and informative reply. Fortunately, CD-ROM is not the only option in my case.

If I understand correctly, if you want to create a live usb it is pretty straight forward. Or am I misunderstanding what you mean by “usb memory installation support”?
If not Ventoy is easy to use and available for windows and Linux. Or there is the standard dd command in the terminal, for Linux

I did 'mostly' minimize the pkg list on the legacy ISO and then I added a bunch of stuff to it (firmware drivers for example) and other stuff. I do plan on looking into seeing if I can make a cd sized version of it before all is said and done.

You can easily find 900 MB CD on the market. I have no experience with that size but it is a possibility S

Additionally, some writers allow for over-burn which allows for more data to be written to a disk than the disk specifies. I have never had a need and I doubt that would be a recommended method for burning Bodhi, but just throwing it out there.

Well, I just meant that the support for USB boot wasn't necessarily robust in the early days, causing experiences like "this is supposed to boot but it doesn't"... but I admit that I haven't had much personal experience about that, 0 or 1 time, so it is more like an impression I got somewhere. So I have usually done things the familiar way with a disc.

I suggest using ventoy. I’m currently writing a wiki for it but it’s pretty straightforward.
