Hello there My sister-in-law has pretty new HP Laptop with installed Windows 10. After 3 years of using the system is unusable. I was really shocked how W10 can lost its performance. Anyway she asked me to install Bodhi on it. I know we use to advise creating USB boot media with Rufus tool but I noticed some new users struggle with installation because of missing DD option. Today I found by accident an another Win tool called Universal usb installer. Frankly I have never seen it before so I gave it a chance because laptop has an secure BIOS boot and UEFI. My experience was very positive. The installation went absolutelly smooth. I you know the tool, ignore my post. If not, look at: www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/Stefan

I used to use undetbootin quite a lot but it no longer has dd support so has mixed results with Bodhi/Ubuntu.

In the beginning, there was LiLi, (Linux Live USB creator). It got me off of windows and into Bodhi 1.4 for the first time, and I used it on windows systems for ages, but it's way out of date today. For ages afterward, I used unetbootin on Bodhi and it was great as well. But that was the old days. I recently found myself stuck in Win10 and trying to get back to Bodhi. I just failed several installs in a row because I used the windows version of unetbootin. I found LiLi was too old, and eventually found Rufus after that. It worked OOTB and it does a pretty thorough job of testing/preparing the drive as well as "burning" the ISO. I think it's great for an average Windows user today. Also, it did give me the option to use dd or another option when making the Bodhi live usb. I didn't use dd, but it worked fine regardless. Maybe it has been updated since the first post.

My experience if on Win 10 is download Rufus to create the bootable usb. On Linux, ventnoy has been suggested here and there's also mint stick if you have access to Linux Mint.

I've been using Universal USB installer for some years :-) It works for Windows or Linux. I'll try it with Bodhi because I did have problems installing from usb (and balena etcher didn't help either) and resorted to dvd.

Hello! I would like to know if Bodhi Linux has any program similar to MintStick to format pendrives and create Linux Distribution Isos? Or would it be possible to create a Fork of MintStick? I have already installed MintStick in Bodhi Linux 6, it works very well, even an item is created in the menu. Thanks! Link: packages.linuxmint.com/pool/main/m/mintstick/

@deepseed I totally forgot about LiLi. Crazy UI but it used to get the job done. I also stopped using Unetbootin when it started becoming unreliable. If etcher doesn't work for me then Rasperry Pi imager usually does. And if not either of those then there's always dd. On Windows I agree Rufus is very good. But I am a Ventoy convert also. It's crazy convenient to just have a number of iso files on a stick and choose the one you want.
