While installing Bodhi, I noticed some messaging in the installer about being able to become a Bodhi member! I found the membership form, but I'm looking for more information. - The membership form has a Desired email address field. If I understand correctly, we can enter some text to associate with the @bodhilinux domain, right? Like ABC@bodhilinux.com. But how do we link it up with our existing email address? Does that setup come later once we've made our payment?
- The membership form also has a Desired custom forum title. Is this some text to display beneath our forum name here when we post? Like, for example, where some users have "member" or "dev" beneath their name, we can choose to display any other text there?
- The installer text mentioned receiving some goodies as part of our membership. What's included? And where do we enter our shipping address? Or, again, is this sorted out later?
- How do we manage our membership in the future? Just reach out to some admins here? Are future payments auto-deducted via our PayPal account?
Thanks!

Hello and Welcome to the Forums! To (hopefully )answer your questions . The membership would, from my understanding, be a forwarding address that would point to your already established email and yes, it would be an @bodhilinux domain. I'm not sure about timing but it should be more-or-less right away, pending our web back-end teammate's schedule - it's all donated time and a small but dedicated team around these parts. . Correct, the forum title is to your choosing (within reason). . Our previous Lead Dev used to have small capacity thumb drives that he would ship out. We, unfortunately, do not have goodies to give out this time, other than our company and conversation. We are thinking about some future ideas though. . From what I know, you can set recurring donations. Regarding account settings, beyond what you can configure/change yourself currently, I believe all changes would go to the admins. ylee is our Lead - feel free to reach out to him regarding donations ( www.bodhilinux.com/donate/ ) - our Team greatly appreciates donations! Donations keep us running! Please let me know if that helps and again, welcome to Bodhi!

Hey, thanks for the welcome and for helping to clarify for me! I've got my eye on some Bodhi merch, so it's good to know that by signing up for membership I won't be accidentally doubling up on items.
By the way, a bit of feedback about the membership (so feel free to move this to the feedback section, if it works like that) after reading about the membership in the installer, I had quite a bit of trouble finding the sign up page and being sure I'm in the right spot. I actually only got to it via a very old Bodhi blog post, I think. Would be good to have a membership sign up link in the site's Support menu to drive more awareness. Oh yeah and to update the installer text to not mention the "goodies". It's all good, but could help remove some small hurdles to folks considering signing up or buying merch .

There is talk of a reinstating a proper paid membership scheme, not only because there is a lot of interest and demand at the moment, both here and on discord, but because our lead dev (ylee) invests a lot of time and love in Bodhi, and it is felt by the team that it’s high time Bodhi returned some of that investment in the form of a bit of cash. As well as this, it costs money to host forums, websites etc, which is covered by team contributions (including from ylee)
How this membership will look is still a question of debate and puzzlement, as we don’t want a paid for version of Bodhi or a two tiered support service. So how to reward a paid membership? We’ll let you know once we work it out. In the mean time, we welcome donations, community involvement and contributions in whichever form people feel relevant.
Edit - we don’t see any money from the merch currently. It was an deal made a long time ago with the then lead dev, and the company that sells the T-shirt’s etc, which we don’t currently know much about. So there are also a few knots like this to untangle.

Thanks for the additional info, Hippytaff. Bit of a shame that none of the proceeds from merch sales go towards supporting the Bodhi team, but it's a cool that the option for branded merch exists anyway. I snagged myself a couple of items anyway because, frankly, the Bodhi leaf logo design looks really cool, the items look like good quality, and I wouldn't mind having some reminders of this great distro around me .
But to support Bodhi itself, I also donated via membership to show my appreciation of what this team has pulled together and provides! Thank you to the hard-working volunteers!
By the way, it might also be worth considering adding a note at the merch link so people know that it won't fund Bodhi. I assumed it would, to be honest! It'd be a shame to have people solely making purchases, thinking that they're helping to fund the project, not realising that they'd need to also make a donation, meaning the Bodhi team misses out on funds. I don't mean to come across as too critical. Just passing on my perspective as someone wanting to support, having freshly navigated my way through the process. Just wanting the best for Bodhi

Thanks Nostawread, your donation is very much appreciated. Many of us also have bought merch from that shop, it is cool AF. We are slowly ironing these issues out (excuse the pun) and your feedback is useful and valuable to us. Many thanks for your input and support. 🙂

I'll have to look at the merch again.
By the way, I'll also be donating $50 a month via Paypal, starting September.

Wow, that’s a lot Wimc. Maybe a bit too much!? But any amount certainly help a lot. Thank you. I'd do more if I could. I would start this month, but my car is paid off end of this month, extra money I get for not having a last full payment will help double my internet download, from 6 Mbps to 12. My upload remains at 1 Mbps.
thewaiter, much longer. I know you're kidding though.
