Hi everyone! I'm a Bodhi 6.0 user from Hungary. I use Linux every day home & work too, since Mandrake 7.3 version (maybe 1999). Currently I use MX for main OS on my laptop, and Manjaro my work laptop , and trying set up Bodhi for everyday . Moksha desktop look very good, but i have a question i couldn't solve it. I have always six virtual desktop. 1. Mail reader. 2. Browser. 3. Empty. 4. File manager (Thunar) 5. Mc 6. Transparent terminal window. (background with feh slideshow) When certain programs or settings start, it always opening in first desktop. For example: Midnight Commander, Terminology, Ephoto, settings panel and so on. Someone can help me? Thx. Sorry my poor English. Often need I helping translate.google.com. :-)

Hello milfer, Awesome to hear you use Linux on a daily basis - that's fantastic! Glad to hear you are giving Bodhi a try! How are you starting the programs? Terminal or GUI? Graphically, I am able to be on any of my virtual desktops and when I open a program while on that desktop, programs appear to open on that desktop. I wonder if it is a setting within the program itself? Not sure if this is what you are looking for but if you right-click on the title bar of a program, you can tell it what desktop to be on (Move To -> 0-0, 0-1, 0-2, etc.). I'm not sure about a default setting for only opening on just the first virtual desktop that you could adjust to avoid that behavior. Someone else here likely knows more. Feel free to post this on our forum in Main Support -> New User Support or check out the Bodhi Discord discord.com/invite/pvB7MSf . Keep us posted and your English is just fine! Welcome to the forums and Bodhi Linux!

Hi and welcome to the forums,
I remember mandrake. Blast from the past. Regarding virtual desktops, unfortunately AFAIK, some applications will always open on the first virtual desktop, and will need to be moved to the desired desktop. I don’t use them as they annoy and confuse me. Anyway welcome on board.

No that is not normal behavior. When you say you start them do you mean you start them from the menu or some other way? Still they should start on the virtual desktop you are on. Unless you are on the first desktop but those apps to start in your idea of the "right" desktop.

Mandrake, yeah, Linux ancient age. No sound card driver, no printer driver, no automount, etc. :-)
Maybe I managed to solve it. Look my next post.

Yes that is not normal. I think this is the solve: Go settings panel > screen > virtual desktops. Desktop Window Profil. When pick "Use desktop window profil", then "e" programs open at first desktop. "e" programs: all setting, ephoto, terminology, etc. When not selected it's allright. All program opening in the current desktop.
