Guys, i came in deep trouble installing bodhi 6.0 on a separate SSD. I used a USB stick with Unetbootin and the Bodhi 6.0 ISO file. And I am sure that i didnt select the laptop SSD during installation.
First of all It is not possible anymore to boot into Bodhu 5.1 on my laptop. I get a minimal bash Grub. The laptop has an internal SSD with only Bodhi 5.1. Before it worked fine
If i boot into the external SSD i get first an error message in red "Secure boot violation Invalid signature detected secure boot policy in set up" but after a while i get a Grub menu and there I can choose to boot into 6.0 on the external SSD or 5.1 on the laptop.
Booting into 6.0 on the external SSD takes a lot of tim, more time than booting into 5.1 but both are working.
Questions: 1. How can i restore Grub on my laptop so that i can boot into 5.1.without the external SSD attached 2. How to get rid of the Secure boot error when i boot into my external SSD 3. How to speedup the booting 6.0 on my external SSD

1. I would guess run `sudo update-grub` from bodhi 5.1. Only a guess. Probably shoulda picked internal drive for grub during 6.0 installation. 2. Can you disable secure boot in bios setup? 3. Dunnno.

First, turn off secure boot. It will only cause problems, and provides absolutely no advantage in a home environoment.

I have turned off secure boot. Run `sudo update-grub` from bodhi 5.1 sort any effect. I also tried sudo grub-install /dev/sda followed by sudo update-grub but also that didnt resolve the problem. I understand that it is a common problem caused by the installing program. As far as i can see, it flashed very quick during boot, it is a boot order problem. But please help me to sort this out because i get crazy of that Grub minimal bash

Is this with or without the external SSD still connected?

Because this stuff is confusing and I dont understand the files myself, if I were in your position I'd install grub customizer (under bodhi 5.1, the only one that boots, so you have to use ppa cuz its not in bionic repo, only focal) and make sure everythings right, then click apply.
If that didnt work, I'd quit wasting my time, use gparted to wipe everything off the external SSD, and resintall bodhi 6 on it, this time making sure to select the internal hard drive for grub (usually /dev/sda).

Hello
1 and 2. Sorry.. I don't know... hopefully someone will help you on this.
3. What USB interface do you have in the laptop: USB3.0 or USB2.0? Cause if it's USB 2.0 it's normal to be much slower.
Can you please let us know why you did install 6.0 on an external SSD drive instead of the internal SSD? For testing purposes? Many programs installed on 5.1?
In your place given that this problem might be difficult to solve I'd boot the 5.1 with the 6.0 attached... backup all data from 5.1 to the external SSD (having the 6.0) and then do a fresh install on the internal SSD (why not of 6.0 this time) without having the external drive connected. Then get all your data from the external SSD.

The USB interface the laptop has a USB2 and USB3 interface. The external SSD is connected to the USB3. My reason to install Bodhi 6 on an external SSD is that I want to replace the internal SSD with the external SSD which has a bigger capoacity

For the SSD why don't you swap it physically? Are they different form factors (one it's M2 and the other 2.5") or is it a warranty problem?
If you don't want/can swap them you could make the backup suggested and then use the intrenal SSD for multiple OS-es and keep your (more rarely) used data on the external SSD.
Either way goodluck!
