I am a wannabe Bodhi user. I will post about my problems with that elsewhere on the Forum.
My first computer was an Amstrad 256 which I shared with my younger daughter as she did her A levels, so that gives an idea of my vintage. My current primary computer is a refurbished Lenovo T400 running Libreboot and Trisquel (probably not my first choice of Linux distro, TBH, but it came on the machine and does the job, and Libreboot, paradoxically, complicates the process of installing something else.)
Between those two, 5 or 6 machines have had their day.
I am a fairly recent semi-convert to Linux. My ‘main machine of the day’ has run Linux (Zorin before this one) for about three years now, and in that period I have done a number of installs on other machines for specific uses, though I still use Windows for music applications, playing keyboards through digital sound sources being one of my principal leisure interests.
On Linux, I do use the Terminal to a limited extent, but am wary of command of more than 20 or 30 characters, or long sequences of inputs ! I prefer to work through a GUI if possible.
To date, I have never made-my-own installer USB drive, though that may be a nettle I need to grasp……..

Sorry about the odd lineation. That block of text is a direct copy and paste from LibreOffice ! Fixed that for you Welcome to the forums, post your issues or questions and we will try to help. I did a little reading about Libreboot as I have never used it, and yes you are right. I will complicate installing Bodhi or any other Linux. Burning an ISO to a USB is really not as hard as it may seem. I hope Bodhi meets your needs and also note our BL6.0 release candidate is what I would recommend you use. It is stable and with minor changes soon to be our new release.

Hello Ian and welcome. I, too, was wary of the "dd" process for making a bootable USB drive but it really is pretty easy:
run >> ls /dev/sd* note the result plug in USB medium rerun above the difference should tell you the path to the USB drive (/dev/sdx, where x is something) cd to the location of the imagefile >> sudo dd if=imagefilename.iso of=/dev/sdx [see above; x=something] [this takes a long time and there is no feedback until it’s done. DON’T PANIC]

Well, thank you for the rapid and warm welcome. I had been strict with myself not too look again too soon, but evidently on this forum I needn't have bothered! The sign of such an active community is a strong incentive to press forward. A couple of points: I'm not strictly 'Welsh'. My father's family were from the flatlands of The Fens, and my mother's side were also solidly East Anglian. But we have lived in Wales for 35 years, the last 15 in the Swansea Valley, and I would certainly apply for citizenship if such a thing were possible! Libreboot is not a direct factor in my enquiry - that is on the machine I'm now typing on, my online portal and main PC.
As far as my actual issue is concerned, I will make replies in the thread on the New Users' fourm, which some of you have already noticed.
Thank you to you all.
