Hi, everybody!
The current version of WPS office is WPS office 2019 and it is absent from bodhi 5 repo due to some reason. Anyway, my question is not about it, but rather about the previous version (WPS office 2016), which appears to be the last one to support 32-bit machines. I can still see WPS 2016 in bodhi 4 repo. Is there a chance to transfer it to bodhi 5 repo? Given that Bodhi still kindly supports 32-bit systems, including this 32-bit friendly piece of software would be nice.
According to my personal experience WPS is still unmatched, when it comes to compatibility with MS office documents.

Hi alexbodhi,
Welcome to the forums, and thanks for the feedback. It would make sense to support WPS and I'm sure it can be added to the repo unless the devs have a good reason for not including it.

The one in bodhi 4 repo doesnt work under bodhi 5 (libpng12-0) so a direct transfer wont work. It is a proprietary program so it couldn't just be rebuilt with newer dependencies. So in order to put a version in bodhi 5 repo, need to find it. Did you find a deb for the latest version that does work on i386 and test on bodhi 5?
So if it can't be added, the good reasons hippystaff alluded to might be, there isnt a version that works and we cant make one ourselves cuz not open source. Or cuz its proprietary software, another reason could be their licensing, they may say not allowed to redistribute it.

Thanks for the answers, guys! Didn't realize that complication with dependencies. Talking about the deb file, well, I've been looking for it on the web and even asked on some forums but no luck so far

I'm learning this stuff lately myself. I think the way it works, when you build a program from source, you need certain development libraries. When you build with those dev libraries, it makes the binary require related version of shared library as a dependency, which come from the non dev version of the package.
So I think in this apps case, the version in bodhi 4 repos is asking for libpng12 but Im sure there is a modern replacement cuz I've heard of that, so I bet if it was built with a more modern libpng-dev it would work. Somelike like that.
But it seems this is proprietary software that provides deb packages themselves, if I'm right. They may have an archive of released versions and you can find the last one made for i386 tho and see if it runs under bodhi5 without complaints. Or maybe somebody posted it online, or its in the repo of another distro, etc...

alexbodhi , I found a 2019 version in Ubuntu Kylin repository that works on Bodhi Legacy 5.1! I believe thats Chinese software from a Chinese distro based on Ubuntu, but fortunately it comes out English! But yknow proceed with caution... archive.ubuntukylin.com:10006/ubuntukylin/pool/main/w/wps-office/cd /tmp wget http://archive.ubuntukylin.com:10006/ubuntukylin/pool/main/w/wps-office/wps-office_11.1.0.8392_i386.deb sudo apt install ./wps-office_11.1.0.8392_i386.deb
