Love Bodhi, but theres one issue I noticed that I haven't seen in any other distro. The gadgets on the shelf rearrange themselves for no apparent reason every time I add a gadget to the shelf, change the style of the shelf, or just look at it wrong. Not a huge issue, but very annoying.

100% agree tho. In seriousness funny looks are fine, gadgets do stay put once placed, but every time you add/remove contents or change something shelf related, gotta rearrange stuff back the way you want and yep its annoying, til you just used to it and it just deal with it cuz it doesnt actually matter once things are in the right place, only while you're messing with it, and you are actually able to get things where you want once you accept moksha's quirks.

Yes, you are right. This really happens. Only what I can promise is, I can look at the code and try fixing if possible. But this part of code looks tricky. Do not expect a lot... Anyway, try this trick if helps: Right click on the shelf and item "refresh". Then rearrange your gadgets on the shelf. Refresh means the gadgets will be unpopulate and populate again. No harm to give it a try. Good luck Stefan

OK, I compared moksha code with E24. Found some subtle differences which I added to the moksha code. All work in moksha repo. Not 100% sure if helps but probably good start. Wait for another moksha deb release for your testings.

After a while, at least in my case, the shelf becomes entirely superfluous and I only use the "launch everything" menu: Alt+Esc, or "windows key"+spacebar

I recently installed BL5.1 on an old crappy under powered IdeaPad for someone. They were thrilled as they hadn't used it for a couple of years and wanted a travel laptop. I put a few soft links (shortcuts) on the desktop they wanted because that is what they were used. Superfluous with the Moksha DE . . . . . . . ? To me it is but if you have been using your laptop in a certain way then that is what you want.

WOW! impressive . . . . . I get it, modules have dedicated shelves . . . . interesting approach - clever really. I actually played with that a bit to get a flag (keyboard) on my desktop that I wanted rather large and the clock on my desktop that I wanted on a transparent shelf. Then I played with hiding a tasks only shelf. All that stuff is pretty cool and when I start moving the half dozen folks I installed linux for to BL6 I will show them all that and if they want it fine. But for me I like clean and simple - I don't even need an Ibar when I can right click anywhere on the desktop and get favorites - left click negates any need for a menu or shutdown buttons. For me personally a small shelf with tasks on the left side and systrey and a few other modules (battery, clipboard, sound etc.) on the left. I do like the clock on the desktop (desktop gadget) though.

Wait for another moksha deb release for your testings. Stefan I put these changes in Bodhis repos (5.1 and 6.0). Briefly tested. Some improvement but not completely fixed. This part of the code is indeed rather complex and a minor issue I have learned to live with. I am unsure even if this issue is resolved in enlightenment these days. Seems last I checked for this issue specifically E still had it.

Thanks Stefan This is the second time you were recoding the next release within 24 hours of me posting on the forums. I really appreciate your dedication to making Bodhi better with each release, and your fast responses. By the way - I noticed $20 bills don't fly out at me from the dvd drive when I fire-up Bohdi. - Take your time on that one. I want it to work flawlessly.

NP and thanx
I wanted to ask you if you tried that "refresh" option.

NP and thanx I wanted to ask you if you tried that "refresh" option. Stefan I did, and none of the gadgets moved when I did it, surprisingly. I quietly tiptoed away, and everything has been fine since. ...Nevermind - I just refreshed again while I was typing this (couldn't stop myself) and had to re-arrange the right side of my shelf. My shelf is just the way I want it, so I think it'll be fine now.
