Greetings Bodhi Linux Forum,
Thanks to the developers of Bodhi, I was able to rescue an old IBM Thinkpad that was dated back to the early 2000s. The laptop was 32bit non-pae and this factor became decisive in bringing me to Bodhi -- in addition to the minimalist interface, of course! After hours (perhaps days) of browsing and researching the various "lite" Linux distributions, Bodhi's "Legacy" version seemed to be the only 32bit distribution that specified in the product description that it was non pae. If I recall correctly, I looked into just over half a dozen "lite" Linux distributions -- including Linux Lite, Puppy Linux, Zorin Linux, and many others -- and Bodhi was the only distribution that appeared to be non-pae. If one of the previously mentioned distributions is non-pae, than excuse my error. In any case, thank you again to developers of Bodhi because I was able to rescue that old Thinkpad laptop due to Bodhi's minimalist interface and lite specifications. Now, due to Bodhi, the machine functions as an ideal backup computer and may serve an added purpose as a learning computer. The only noticeable hindrance is web browsing due to the heavy weight of contemporary websites. Fortunately, old machines can still find their way through the modern Internet with text-based browsers such as Lynx (which browses websites within the Terminal) or that fork of Lynx that is supposed to also show pictures, if I recall correctly it's called w3m.
On another note, I downloaded the prealpha version 6 and made some notes while testing it out on a more able machine than the old Thinkpad. However it seems reasonable to first become more acquainted with the previous version (5.1) prior to commenting on version 6 prealpha. Hopefully in the coming days I will have comments to share from testing the prealpha of version 6 which the developers may find beneficial to their work. Until then, it will be necessary for me to become thoroughly familiar with version 5.1 so that any feedback for version 6 is sensible given the relationship to the previous version.
Thank you again, and cheers!
