Booting to Run, level 3, that requires me to sudo telinit 5 log into graphical mode, all because I like it that way Now I wonder if there is a way for me to turn off verbose boot, that is I mean the system feed back that we normally get when a normal not super weird person usually boots their Bodhi and they may hit escape to see the boot log. Now with booting to Run level 3, I get the verbose by default and I want a silent boot, from power up to prompt, if I can. Can I do that? Thanx for the cool OS and any insights you can give on this... Regards.

It sounds like the GRUB configuration is changed: askubuntu.com/questions/615634/how-to-set-default-runlevelLook at your file /etc/default/grub and verify the lines: ... GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash" GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="" ... If they differ from the ones shown above, fix them and update your config: $ sudo update-grub

Yeah, but I mean that now that I have Run Level 3, like I want, I started getting verbose by default. I do apologize, I tried changing the grub before this post and my changes had no noticeable affect. My current GRUB GRUB_DEFAULT=0 GRUB_TIMEOUT_STYLE=hidden GRUB_TIMEOUT=0 GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR=`lsb_release -d -s 2> /dev/null || echo Debian` GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="" GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="" GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=auto

Yeah, but I mean that now that I have Run Level 3, like I want, I started getting verbose by default. If you would like to turn off the verbose boot messages only, you have to write "quiet" in the kernel boot parameters. You can test it before changing the GRUB configuration, as described here: wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBootParametersThen you can modify your /etc/default/grub: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet" and update GRUB config executing the command: $ sudo update-grub
