Hi All,
I'm not particularly a new user, more of a recurring & returning user.
I've used Linux since the late 90's, computers since the C64 came out. Was introduced to programming with BASIC and something terminal based language at my high school. I also learned how to solder memory onto the motherboard of an Atari 500. Could have, should have, but didn't take it much further until I discovered hex editors and what I could do with 5 1/4 inch floppy. (Looking at you Bards Tale). But again, got distracted by other things in life and have never taken computers or programming that extra step. Although I helped package rpm's for an earlier highspeed OS called Yoper. Back in the days when windows took more than 30 secs to boot up and an average linux distro took 20, we were pushing 10-12. These days it's irrelevant, the hardware now is so fast a distro compiled for speed makes no sense anymore. That all came about because I wanted the GIMP, it wasn't in the Repo so I compiled it myself and sent an email to the lead Dev asking if he wanted my build instructions. Instead he sent me instructions on how to set up as a package compiler/maintainer. But again, life intruded.
So now I'm back playing with and (re)learning Linux again.
Like ylee, I'm also an oddball. A furniture maker, turned roofer. That's also really good with computers.
Enough about me though. I mainly came here to find instructions on getting compiz up and running, I miss my desktop cube and exploding windows.
Later folks.
Angels aka lordtweety aka me.

Hi
Your journey sounds very similar to mine. Not making that extra step but bobbing around doing bits and bobs, with life intermittently pulling in different directions.
Anyway, welcome aboard. Feel free to post your issue on the support boards and/or join our discord for real time support (as and when people are around)
