I have an HP computer with the following specifications:
Processors: 4 × Intel® Core™2 Quad CPU Q8300 @ 2.50GHz Memory: 5,7 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel® Q45/Q43
I have two hardrives. One running Kubuntu 22.04 (main OS) and an other with Windows 10 (mostly for a few programs that don't run under Linux). I had a second partition (sda2) on my Linux drive (sda1) which I used for backup, but then I decided to format it and play a little installing different other distros. Bodhi Linux works fine as a live trial distro, but when I want to install it, it stops for long hours before install. I always had to quit and start all over. I am sure it is not a faulty USB thumb drive as I used it to successfully install both Kubuntu and Windows 10. What could be the problem? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello georged. Can you provide more information about at which point the installation takes so long? Is there any output?

I would ask what tool did you use for creating USB? I use to recommend Rufus with dd option. Also, while the installing there are some options to update system during the process and install 3rd party drivers. I know some guys had troubles with these options. Just do not check the boxes and continue installing. You will update system later Stefan

Thank you guys for your input. I actually found out a way around. The installation process stopped immediately after setting up the partition (sda2) as ext4 and checked the option for it to be formatted. I tried this several times to no avail. For the USB iso writer, I use Balena Etcher. Works great and I have been using it for years now. Here's what I did that made it work: I booted into my main OS (Kubuntu), ran Gparted and deleted the partition (sda2). I left it as raw/unallocated, then I rebooted and started the install process and it went whooosh! The installation went pretty fast and I am now using Bodhi, which I like very much. This workaround might perhaps help others with the same problem. Thank you again for your suggestions. Cheers

Great news. Now only one thing left: Enjoying Bodhi linux Stefan Absolutely. It's pretty fast and for some reason, internet speed is much better than under Windows. Needs some tweaking and personalization here and there, but the core is amazing!
