Hiya all,
Just registered very much a newbie on Linux looking to install Bodhi on 2009 laptop to revive it.
Intel 2 core processor with 6 GB ram Only have 640 GB HDD
I installed Lubuntu and Mint plus other have distro hopped a bit.
Most install but complain as want GPT not MBR but work, later after an update maybe kernel not sure it fails to boot so use Time shift or another backup so need it on the ISO.
What edition do I try Standard, hwe or another Can answer most hardware but at present only using phone. Thank

I'd suggest install hwe, unless for some reason it doesn't work, then try standard. Unless you want some apps preinstalled, then use apppack, you can always update kernel after install, and that's the only difference between hwe and standard. If you're already used to lubutnu/mint/etc you know what apps you want to install anyway, so no need for apppack if you prefer to only install what you actually use.
And yeah your machine is just fine for Bodhi, and will be faster than lubuntu or mint.

In my opinion, Bodhi is the perfect distro for a computer that old. I have a 2009 Gateway desktop, and am running Bodhi 6. I tried Bodhi 7, but the newer kernels revved the CPU a bit, so I went back to Bodhi 6. I am doing upgrades only, not dist-upgrades. that way I stay on a kernel I know will not stress the system.
