Hello, I'm trying to install a program (koreader) which makes it possible to highlight PDFs while using my ereader. To do this, I followed these instructions: www.mobileread.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3797096&postcount=2 In one of the steps, I was supposed to run an install.sh file.I tried this using the Engrampa file manager and, as a result, I got the error message: "Archive type not supported". I wonder if anyone could tell me what to do? Please bear in mind that I know next to nothing about computers. Thank you for any help you can offer

Hi snafus. Can you provide some more details please? What method are you trying to use to install it. Is it a .deb file? AppImage? I’m not familiar with Koreader, but I had a look, and you probably need to follow these instructions if you’re using Bodhi7. github.com/koreader/koreader/wiki/Installation-on-desktop-linuxFeel free to ask here or on the discord channel for help if you need it. P.S. In case you didn’t know already…Follow the Ubuntu instructions.

I'm trying to install a program (koreader) which makes it possible to highlight PDFs while using my ereader.
To install January 2024 version of koreader on 64-bit Bodhi Linux, paste the following into terminology, one line at a time. (you can skip the first line is if you know wget is already installed, but it wont hurt to do it again if you're not sure) Enter your password when prompted, and answer yes (or just press enter) to the question about installing dependencies when prompted.
sudo apt install wget cd /tmp wget https://github.com/koreader/koreader/releases/download/v2024.01/koreader-2024.01-amd64.deb sudo apt install ./koreader-2024.01-amd64.deb
You'll then find it in your menu under Graphics.

To actually run a shell script, you would have to mark it executable (chmod +x filename) then execute it (./filename). But if your goal is koreader installation, easier to just follow my instructions in previous post....

Engrampa is an archive manager, not a file manager. You could use it to extract the zip file. But as their instructions say, you run the shell script itself from the terminal. To open a shell prompt in a terminal emulator in the same folder you have open in thunar file manager, there is an option in the menu for that. Then just enter ./install.sh to run it if its already executable.
To do all the steps from terminal, paste the following one line at a time. Skip the first line if you have wget and unzip installed already. sudo apt install wget unzip cd /tmp wget https://storage.gra.cloud.ovh.net/v1/AUTH_2ac4bfee353948ec8ea7fd1710574097/kfmon-pub/OCP-KOReader-v2024.01.zip wget https://storage.gra.cloud.ovh.net/v1/AUTH_2ac4bfee353948ec8ea7fd1710574097/kfmon-pub/kfm_nix_install.zip unzip kfm_nix_install.zip chmod +x install.sh ./install.sh
