I decided to do a little experiment and update the current ubuntu 22.04 base in Bodhi 7.0 to the new 23.10 base to see if it would all work out :)
The only issue I ran into was with sg3-utils breaking during update, so I removed sg3-utils sg3-utils-udev and multipath-tools beforehand and the upgrade went fine.
After reboot Bodhi was using all new packages and everything seemed to be working well.
Note: My upgrade was done by replacing all instances of 'jammy' in the /etc/apt/sources.list file with 'mantic' then running: sudo apt dist-upgrade
Warning: This is not for the faint of heart, it was merely for testing on my part so be warned!

Update: I've been using the new 23.10 base for a week now and it's working pretty well, with the exception of around 300mb more memory being used which is an ubuntu-thing with all the newer packages it uses.
Also gtk4 apps no longer follow dark theming, so by creating the file: ~/.config/gtk-4.0/settings.ini file and adding these lines:
[Settings] gtk-application-prefer-dark-theme=1
... it fixes apps like transmission that has moved to the new libadwaita theme :)

Update: I've rebased Bodhi using the 24.04 ubuntu packages and everything is working well, the only thing that fails is the screen settings tool.

What does arandr report when you run it from terminal?

... AttributeError: module 'inspect' has no attribute 'getargspec'. Did you mean: 'getargs'? You need version 0.1.11. From arandr's changelog: Try using the version in the BL7debbie repo: arandr_1.1.11-1_all.debThat should work I would think ...

I've had a whole slew of updates from ubuntu 24.04 repos and my Bodhi installation is working perfectly, and in some cases a lot smoother than before with the newer 6.8.3 kernel and mesa libraries.
I am eager for the final release as after that I can be eager for a new Bodhi Linux 8.0 someday :)
