Hi everybody, that's my fist time here, so i'm not sure if this thread is at the correct place or not. If not, i apologize. I will also try my best to explain the problem, but my english is not so good XD Ok, lets go... I have a very old notebook that cames with Win Vista. Recently I decided to revive it and bought two "new" RAM memory cards (2+2) and changed its CPU from a Pentium T4200 to a T9600. Memory and CPU are working fine. Time to format... I tried Lubuntu, Slax, Linux Lite and now Bodhi 7. They install with no problem, but when i try to boot, it stack after bios logo. Then i tried Win7 and 10, both works, but they are very slow and I WANT LINUX 😡 After some search I discovery that the problem is probably my Video Card, a Sis Card 771/671. Now the problem with Bodhi: As i said, i can install it normaly, but when i try to boot, after the bios, i get a black screen with a blinking cursor. At this point i can access the terminal mode using ctrl+alt+f3. I can also load the Bodhi envirement if i start the PC pressing Shift and choosing the "Recovery Mode" option ('cus it ignores the video card drive, i suppose). Also can run any live distro from pendrives with no problem. I would like to try something before put fire on it PS.: As i said, i can access the console pressing ctrl+alt+f3, so i could install or edit any file (as grub) by command line. Just don't know what to do.

Hello and welcome You did not describe how you prepared USB for installing. I solved the similar issue with one guy on our discord support channel. He used Rufus but with Standard ISO mode (Recommend). After he changed to DD mode, everything went smooth. Give it a go. Stefan

Actually i used Rufus with Standard ISO mode too :/ I already try the DD mode with Linux Lite (or Lubuntu, not sure) and it doesn't work. But not yet with Bodhi. I'm gonna try.

Well... As I imagined, it didn't work.
I used the Command-Line ‘dd’ Method to create a bootable disk (https://www.bodhilinux.com/w/installation-instructions/#B_Command-Line_8216dd8217_Method_Linux_Only)
But I still get the same ploblem.
By the way, I've already tried to set the "nomodeset" at the grub file too. No success.
PS.: Not sure if it's gonna help, but here is the details from my video card

Hello my friend. Thanks for your help, but actually I found a similiar solution, but this one probably would have worked too. Anyway, here is what I did: 1. First reinstall the Bodhi using the DD image mode. It's because I had already made several attempts and changes to some files, so I preferred to start from scratch to avoid conflicts. 2. Access the recovery mode pressing Shift at the boot, and go to Terminology. Or press crtl+alt+f3 when get the black screen. 3. In the Terminology do: sudo apt update sudo apt full-upgrade sudo leafpad /etc/X11/xorg.conf
It's gonna create a empty xorg file. 4. Now, in the leafpad paste this, save and restart.
