Hi there, My dell l321x does not support UEFI, only legacy (and no options besides boot order). I'm planning to install 6.0 then upgrade to 7.0 Is this possible? or are there any restrictions? Any instructions? Thanks

Bodhi doesn't officially support upgrade from one version to another, although technically it is possible if you already know what you're doing. Why not just install 7.0 in the first place tho?

If I install bodhi linux 7.0 I get the message: Operating system not found. Seems like it's not possible to install it on legacy..

It definitely should work with legacy/mbr boot automatically. So something going on that shouldn't. I have installed it on amd athlon64 (first consumer 64-bit cpu ever from 2003) during beta stage and certainly no UEFI on my machines, and no issues. Additionally Virtualbox by default uses bios/mbr boot unless you change settings to use UEFI, and I've tested that many times both ways.
Unfortunately I dunno how to troubleshoot this issue tho, this is kinda a ylee thing, and I dunno what info/logs/etc he'd need to help resolve this, but if it's affecting you it may be affecting others so it's something I think the Bodhi team would like to address, cuz we most definitely want to support legacy hardware.
I don't think it would be a kernel thing, sounds like a grub problem, but if you were trying the s76 version, maybe try the standard version just to be sure....

Do you get that message trying to run the ISO to install BL7? Or do you get that message after the install and you reboot? These are two different problems.

I mean, I would like to get the update without overwriting my hard drive with a new iso install. This isn't supported? 6.15 or something was installed about a year ago.

As mentioned, Bodhi doesn't officially support upgrade from one major version to another, although technically possible.
If you don't already know how to do it, you probably shouldn't! But all you have to do is change your apt sources from bodhi 6 to bodhi 7 and from ubuntu focal to ubuntu jammy, then run a full upgrade. In theory it might work first try, but you have to be fully prepared to manually resolve any issues if it doesn't. You're more likley to have issues if you have anything installed from non-original apt sources such as ppas or 3rd party repos or manually any installed deb files.

Your machine is already in 6? Why upgrade? Its not like windows, in the sense that you cannot do most things unless you upgrade.
If it cannot find the os, it might be that Ubuntu Jammy Jellyfish is unsupported by your machine. Try installing in a VM before doing the actual install just to be on the safe side.
