Wich is the oldest PC/Notebook that you installed Bodhi Linux on? Was it usable?
For me, it is a Celeron 1,3Ghz with 4gb ram. Bodhi 7 is running well. I use Abiword/Gnumeric instead of LibreOffice and Krita instead of GIMP. Of course, it struggles with every browser I tried, but it's no surprise.
I want to try an SD Card installation on an Asus EEE PC 4g ( 900hz CPU - 2gb ram ) just for testing it.

I have it installed on multiple laptops but probably the oldest and most underpowered one would be my netbook. Acer Aspire One D255E netbook CPU: Intel Atom N455 1.66GHz, 512KB cache Memory: 2GB DDR3 HD: 160GB

My oldest is Pentium 4 with 82865G Intel Extreme 2 Graphics. Only had 512mb ram for a long time, but picked up a few extra ram modules from family who were tossing an old machine, so now its something like 1.5G? I forgot actually, as it's so much now I hardly even think about it It's running Bodhi 6 Legacy Beta, but I'm anxiously awaiting Bodhi 7 Legacy Beta to test! I was surprised when reading some stuff recently that they're still adding features for this old hardware, linux 5.4 improved my floppy drive controller speed (which I dont use, but have), and linux 5.8 included feature update for my integrated graphics, as described 3 years ago with a headline about 1 7 Years Later: Intel 865 Chipset Seeing FBC Enabled On Linux It doesn't have the SSE3 instruction so chromium (and forks) can't run. But firefox (and palemoon and epiphany) still chugging along just fine!

Take a close look at the list of PCs in my signature line, note the year of manufacture is indicated. Bodhi runs on everything but the 600E. So as you can see Bodhi runs with aplomb on hardware that is 20, 16, 12,and 10 years old respectively.
On the T41p I am conscious of memory usage and open terminal and monitor via free –m if I am running a browser and other applications. I am also am conscious of my choice of apps and how I use them given the 512MB memory constraint on that machine. Running a non-browser based ad blocker and VPN reduces memory consumption when surfing. SMtube is a good choice for youtube videos etc. But this is 20 year old hardware.
But I have none of these concerns on my T61ps with 2GB RAM when running Bodhi which is impressive given it is 16 year old hardware.. On the other hand I monitor RAM when running MX Linux with XFCE on the same hardware. So here the difference Bodhi running Moksha makes is readily apparent when contrasted with MX Linux XFCE. Cheers mate,

[...] I want to try an SD Card installation on an Asus EEE PC 4g ( 900hz CPU - 2gb ram ) just for testing it. Yesterday I´ve tried Bodhi 7, Bodhi Legacy and Antix. No way. It doesn´t even start the live versions of the 3 OSs. XP will stay there. By the way, it is impressive how reactive the Netbook works with that OS.

Interesting. I consider Bodhi as fast as WinXP on performance. But yea, I had very old Lenovo machine S12 bought in 2010 and I had WIN XP there. It was pretty great. My only problem was the exotic specs. Laptop had VIA chipset, VIA CPU and VIA GPU. Openchrome vga driver did its job for 2D drawings but the performance was not as cool as in XP. So it depends on HW specs you have.

The thing is they were originally loaded and sold with Linux type OS; that is why I am hopeful you can find a supported Linux distro that will run on it. Try the Puppy line, Bionic Pup and Fossa pup for sure but also look at older Puppy distros and the Puplets. Since the Puppy OS is locked down older distros are less of a malware/security concern so going back in time with Puppy distros is less dangerous than with standard distros. Look at the new and old FatDog -it is now its own thing. Look at Slax for sure. Check out Porteus OpenBox, Mate, or LXDE versions. Definately try SliTaz as it is its own thing and may work, and my it is fast. Also look at Absolute Linux, Core Plus, and LXLE as a Hail Mary pass. Consider Q4OS 4.2 (Gemini) with the Trinity desktop. If that works then try the new Aquarius version (it appears heavier), the Gemini release is supported until Sept 2026, Aquarius until 2028. Kumander is by far the heaviest of those I have listed but it is worth a shot. You will think you are running windows 7 theme wise. Notes: Puppy(s) and Porteus have pared down and rewrote so much of what they were based on that they are really their own thing. SliTaz, Porteus and Puppy-family all have learning curves. Puppy has a very friendly and unique support forum in that for many matters they prefer you ask for assistance rather than read the docs and make a mistake. Additionally Porteus and Puppy's have locked down OS so there is a innate layer of security that many distros do not possess. Cheers mate. The Scarlet Pimpernel

For those older pc s, I would suggest antix or LegacyOS. LegacyOS is a spinoff of antix. I would think that either would run on them.

On that old netbook ( Celeron 1,3Ghz, 4Gb DDR2, OS on SD Card), I switched from Antix 32bit to Bodhi 7 and I´m not feeling any performance difference. It boots even faster. Yesterday I upgraded a Toshiba Portege R600 ( C2D 1,4Ghz, 3Gb DDR2 ) with a 64Gb SSD and, of course, I installed Bodhi 7.0. It´s incredible how fast it works!
