Hi, i know from my experience with other forums that one is not supposed to post about issues or ask for help in "Introduce Yourself" section but hope that introducing myself here in the help section will not be frowned upon. Congratulations, Bodhi 7.0.0rc is even more awesome than the previous version. Have used them both, used to be a Mint and debian user after giving up on Ubuntu, was looking for something minimalist but usable for an average, not too bright user and wow, have i struck gold with this! Coming back to the issue; Allow me to clarify in advance that i always verify the md5 checksums of every ISO before i install the OS and do an update and a dist-upgrade. Using Bodhi 7rc now but the problem was the same in Bodhi 6 and it persists, viz. every browser that i install, (from the Bodhi App Centre of course, didn't want to risk something incompatible right from the start), including he default Chromium, freezes up after a few minutes and scrolling becomes impossible. Even tried the lightest of them, Palemoon but had no luck with it either. Now i have browsed through some of the similiar threads here and can confirm that there definitely is some problem with browser integration and it's not because of a corrupted iso or installing the browser from the terminal, etc. Would you please look into it?

Could be anything, but I'd guess bad memory. If you have more than one memory module, remove one at a time, see if the problem goes away, until you find out which one is causing the issue. I doubt it's anything to do with browser, just that's what you're doing with your computer that uses its resources.

Thanks, and especially for the quick response. Will try out what you suggested and get back to you. Was a pleasure being here. Edit: Unloaded Shot and Mixer modules, have been browsing since then without a problem except on one particular site with a continuous stream of pictures which begin loading as soon as they come under the cursor, some inset of a video, and a ton of pop-ups and redirections. Am going to avoid that site from now on despite all the helpful tips and tutorials it provides. Will take the liberty of marking this as solved. Thanks a mil.

Hello, I have been experiencing total desktop lockup (apart from mouse) since clean installing 6 HWE on two very different machines. I'd like to respectfully ask where you got the notion that these two modules are implicated and why are they involved?
Cheers, Berde

Yo Berde, firstly let me apologise for this delayed reply to everybody on the forum, i have been very tardy on checking up on my email, won't happen again. As to your question, i'm sorry if i gave the impression that what worked for me was a universal solution, it was just something i tried based on the reply i received. Would suggest that you create a new post (i guess you may have already) so that someone more knowledgeable can help you, Regards, sade

Hmm, I can be wrong but as Moksha coder I can say mixer nor shot module are responsible for browser freezes. It should be something else. Anyway, I will wait for more feedbacks if really related.

Using Bodhi in virtualbox 6.1.46 on macbook pro High Sierra. It isn't for lack of confidence or commitment, can't get into the startup to boot from media. If you browse mac discussion boards, you'll find the plaint about startup key combinations not working a very common thread. Anyway, back on point, i tried Crunchbang++ on another VM and had the same issues. Which forces me to conclude that browsers in virtual machines suck across the board for all distributions, definitely for my combination of device, host OS and virtualbox version. Point is, if anybody else is experiencing the same issues of browser freezing the system, please note that it has nothing to do with Bodhi or it's browser, and more with the combination of host OS and version of virtualbox you are using.

Not sure if this is relevant but I experience browser freeze (Chromium) when I download to (or, sometimes, upload from) an SD card or USB drive. I've learned to live with it.
