For my kids machines I remove the default start menu, and use the quick launcher (with single click at max zoom leve) with most everything else disabled besides the app menu itself - but it starts with categories (as it should). And the MokshaGreen categories are boring/ugly and clash with what happens when they click on "Games" and see the default hicolor icons for each game. Enlightenment-X is decent, but it's got blue icons all over the place for other stuff. Complete icon sets like papirus do change them all, but they're cartoony (imo) and mess with the application's default hicolor icons, which I want to keep. And every icon set seems tomake the settings panel looks messy, cuz they only replace like 1/3 of them. (But if I say don't replace Moksha icons, it doesn't do the app menu categories, my primary goal!).
I've downloaded and installed tons of icon themes to see what I might like for my kids new Bodhi 7 install. Its an old athlon64, I most certainly notice that with the default mokshagreen icons, the menu is fast, icons appear immediately, no delay. But I want the app menu in color. When I try some of the other icon themes, slow slow slow icons don't appear right away. Papirus has all the catgories, they're flat and colorful but at least clear, but they override all the regular icons for games and looks dumb. I didnt take notes but tried a dozen icon sets, all had one issue or another. The numix theme in bodhi repo at least didnt overwrite apps. The new numix themes like circle certainly do. But anyways all issues.
What I've decided is I think I just want to change those category icons and stick with mokshagreen icons. So I need to figure out the filenames for those menu categories, and then figure out how to override the /usr/share ones in .local I think. Any hints on filenames for menu categories? Do I gotta make every resolution?
