Feels like a very silly question, but.....
I can put the system into suspend in several ways - menu, close lid etc, but how do I get it back?
I can't see a key binding option for 'wake up'
Ideally I'd use the touchpad, or keyboard, or activate my wireless mouse (mouse has auto power off)
Ideas?
Cheers IanB

Well that's what I was expecting to work, but nope, the power button does nothing - well not nothing, it's my only way out of this as I have to press and hold the power button until it powers off and then restart it.... which kinda spoils the point of suspend!
Is there a key binding (that the right way to say it?) for telling it the power button should take it out of suspend?

It might be suspend doesn’t work with your hardware. It’s more common than you’d think with Linux so much so it’s a bit of a running joke. Have you tried pressing esc, or moving the mouse?

Oh, wait! Got it wrong. Yes, it does go into suspend (judging by the 'snoring' power light) and yes, the power button does wake it up. BUT - the screen is blank. I'd missed the brief HDD activity, and the fact that the power light comes back on full - doh!
So I think the question is not how do I get it out of suspend, but why is the screen blank when it comes out of suspend, and what to do about it?

Sounds like an issue with video drivers not playing nice. If you have nvidia gpu by any chance, there are proprietary drivers which usually work better...

So I think the question is not how do I get it out of suspend, but why is the screen blank when it comes out of suspend, and what to do about it? If you are using Picom for Screen Tearing, disable it before entering "suspend" this is a known issue in Picom for earlier versions(this happens with Nouveau sadly), disable the "ComptonMod" module.

Thanks and... er.... getting a bit complex for me now! After a lifetime of Windows I switched to Linux Mint about 6 months ago on my main machine - love it - and it's also so 'user friendly' that I almost never venture into Terminal (yeah, I know, ******* noobs!). I tried Mint on my second laptop, but it didn't play nice - Bodhi is working great. This is on a Dell Inspiron Mini 10 - Atom CPU with integrated graphics. I've tried various things around graphics, video drivers etc, disabling, blacklisting, but it doesn't seem to be the Nouveau issue or the AMD thing (that apparently sometimes happens even though there's no amd gpu present) I shall investigate sparkill's suggestions later, but will have to go researching as I've no idea what most of that means!

This is a good place to start your research for modules. It’s pretty straightforward once you’re familiar with the way moksha does stuff. www.bodhilinux.com/w/gadgets-modules-and-shelves/Comptonmod is basically a compositor which allows effects like translucency etc. it’s not normally active by default as far as I know.

I'm not sure why, but suspend seems to be the "basic function" that linux doesnt always do well with, I just mentioned this in another thread too, you're not the only one with this issue, it's common. You can check your BIOS, sometimes it has settings that help and maybe linux works with the other setting. Look for settings related to power management or ACPI (Advanced Config Power Interface)... even if the other setting seems wrong, try it, since its not working at all now it cant make it worse... etc.
