The two-key on my laptop has stopped working. I can't type the numeral or the "at" sign, so it's a real problem.
Does anyone have any suggestion on how to fix it? Barring that, is thereĀ way to wipe the computer without doing a complete re-install?

You could try a different keyboard layout. UK keyboard layout has inverted commas on the 2 button and the at sign on the button above right shift. Or you could manually reassign the at to somewhere else using xmodmap. superuser.com/questions/2194/remap-keys-in-linux

Well, I found the keyboard layout to be too confusing. I have several platforms and I couldn't find the right key assignments to not make my head explode when switching from one to the other. What I did was copy a "2" and a "@" in a couple of convenient places and that's good enough. Also I know that @ is unicode 40.
