Why not to enable "Mount volumes on insert" and "Open filemanager on insert" settings of "Places" as default? Bodhi Linux has no "USB devices" gadget and a newbie user may be confused after he insert an USB stick: where to find his photos or music? P.S. It seems to be not good idea for "Live ISO" profile because it causes problem for installer that executed using the desktop shortcut. The operating system mounts the volumes created by installer automatically and the installer can't populate the root filesystem. Attachments:

Bodhi Linux 7 in a current German periodicalIn Germany, there are only a few printed magazines about Linux. One of them, which is published every two months, is "LinuxWelt", if you want to translate the title, it would be called "LinuxWorld". The current issue for February and March 2023, which has just gone on sale, comes with Bodhi Linux 7 on DVD. The text below translated:

Ubuntu has announced that Flatpak will not be supported in future releases. Will or how will this affect Bodhi if any? "In yet another highly controversial move, Canonical announced that future Ubuntu flavor editions would not support Flatpak by default." linuxiac.com/ubuntus-latest-move-goodbye-flatpak-support/

It won't affect Bodhi as Bodhi is not an official Ubuntu flavor. Bodhi can still do whatever it wants, and I haven't heard of any plans to change anything for Bodhi 7, so if it's like Bodhi 6 it'll have automatic snap installation disabled, but user is free to install flatpak or snap if they want tho.

Also the announcement means flatpak won’t be install by default on Ubuntu, but can still be installed. Sometimes I’m not sure if canonical make these statements to get a reaction. It’s no big deal to sudo apt get something.

Is there any reason to keep "wvdial" and its dependencies "wvstreams" in the ISO local repository? Moreover it depends on "ppp" that is missing.

Trying it out now but, my question is why firefox is now a snap package and can not be installed any other way? I hate snap so that would be a deal breaker for me. Waterfox)))

Sorry about my recent health issues and the delay of BL7. It was a rush job but this weekend I resumed work on the ISOs. There are two new BL7 alpha ISOS: - bodhi-7.0.0-64-alpha4.iso has the stock ubuntu kernel: linux-generic 5.15.0.67.65.
- bodhi-7.0.0-64-s76alpha4.iso features the newer linux-image-6.0.12-76060006-generic as patched and packaged by System76.
Comments welcome and donations still needed. Thanks all and enjoy

I've been playing with the alpha4 iso and have some notes to share. Let me know what is unclear!
edit: numbered things for reference
Bugs/Issues ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1. told it to autologin during installation and it didnt on first login (it did after) 2. nm-applet using 90MB of memory? 3. thunar desktop file "Home" exec doesnt work (Failed to open "%U") 4. bodhi-theme-pack depends bodhi-theme-moksha-arc but not installable [no errors reported when using bodhi appcenter]5. tasks module: shrink to fit not working (I think has to do with ibar showing tasks too)6. Ibar using different icon than window border/tasks module [Shelf Settings] 7. Ibar showing active tasks, and so is Tasks. Redundant. (Enable "dont add items on launch" for ibar, or remove tasks module.) 8. Ibar still shows thunar active dot after closing. [Stopped happening after reboot] 9a. Epiphany has a border around it when maximized.9b. Right-Clicking Epiphany in tasks shows "Borderless" selected - and it cannot be changed. Gnome apps are considered as borderless Suggestions/Ideas ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 10 ibar: Bigger Indicator Dot for active tasks.11 ibar: Multiple Dots if multiple windows of same task open. 12 ibar: Method to make clicking icon switch to it's active window if open, instead of opening new one. (Already in Desktop Environment Settings)13 Add "new window" to terminology desktop file.14 reduce priority of ubuntu firefox snap redirect 15. Ibar: maybe add "launch single instance" checkbox to ibar settings MokshaGreen Theme Related Suggestions/Observations ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 20 Please add highlight border on active window IF it's floating (NON-MAXIMIZED). (This theme does make window edges hard to distinguish) Partly solved21 Shelf has 3 (unnecessary) dots at each end. How bout remove them on the alternate style (which currently doesnt even look different that I can see.)22 Start Menu and Everything Starter have the same icon except everything-starter is smaller. [At least make everything the same size, and/or give one of them a different big icon]23 Font size in start menu is smaller than other themes like ArcGreen. Suggest increase it a bit.24 Epiphany/Chromium window buttons don't match Moksha's (and presumably all gnome CSD apps)PPA software I use (Not in bodhi repos, would be cool for Bodhi to provide) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kelebek333/nvidia-legacy sudo apt install nvidia-340 sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mozillateam/ppa echo 'Package: * Pin: release o=LP-PPA-mozillateam Pin-Priority: 1001'| sudo tee /etc/apt/preferences.d/mozillateam-ppa sudo apt install firefox

Thanx for your feedback Before I start all those themes improvements I would like to know if MokshaGreen theme with a new leaf wallpaper is a good direction. I wanted something fresh for BL7. The truth is the ArcGreen theme has been tuned by me for 2 years. This Green theme still needs some attention. If we still want ArcGreen with all green icons I would like to know it. For my taste Green theme matches the new wallpaper better. ibar: Method to make clicking switch to active window, instead of opening new one. (E offers this feature; similar to Plank Dock) Not sure here. I am not able to reproduce this behavior in E25. I can not see this in E code. I think it is not possible. Other theme feedbacks are doable Ibar using different icon than window border/tasks module [Shelf Settings]For each Moksha setting winodow the ibar icon is same - configure.png. Solving this took me an headache. Pretty cool feature as E25 has no icon tasks module: shrink to fit not working (I think has to do with ibar showing tasks too)You probably do not understand how this works. It will shrink when space between iBar and gadgets on the right is full with tasks. Then each task will decrease its width. It is oposite to scroll feature which I do not like. BTW, yea, having tasks aside iBar is something we need to discuss. In E it is a matter of wizard with question if user wants tasks or not. The worst feedback I saw was freeze. I am unsure here. All fine here and nobody reproduced the same so far. We will wait for more testers. Stefan

Regarding (5) tasks module shrink to fit, to replicate on clean install, open a bunch of windows. Set tasks to 420 wide and shrink to fit. Watch it not work (still scrolls). Note if remove ibar, it works. Regarding (12) ibar left click to switch, I have it set this way on my bodhi with enlightement vm, but that's on my laptop and the external power supply died and I haven't gotten a new one yet. But to do it the first time I had to ask in #e irc channel and raster told me how; if I recall it was a setting in the settings panel, just with weird description. There is one problem with it tho, is that if you want to open a second window of something, it has to be defined in the desktop file, so it appears when you right click on the icon on ibar. Some apps do this already, but one that doesnt is terminology, so it has to be added to desktop file. It's not *quite* as convenient as plank's middle click, but still way easier than having to hover and select floating mini-windows just to change to an already open window.
Ignore freeze for now, that occured in VM, and maybe fluke, dunno if repeatable or real, but if so I'll mention it later. I actually meant to remove that from my notes before posting, and have since done so by editing previous post.
