Hello
I tried to place a script in Startup Command to disable touch pad. Apparently did it wrong. Some where down the road a prompt is loaded to Desktop each time I boot.
The Prompt says: /home/felix/.e/e/applications/startup/startupcommands
stopped working unexpectedly
The only option is 'close'. How do I prevent this from continuing to load each time I boot up? Also, how do I put this script into the Startup Command ? So I don't have to do it manual after I boot up ?
thank you, felix

Can you show us what's in that file, so we can help find the mistake? For example I disable my touchpad with "xinput --disable 13".
You can also try running it to see what the error is.

"I disable my touchpad with synclient TouchpadOff=1" ^^^^^^^^^^This^^^^^^^^^^^^ The above command can be saved in .e/e/applications/startup/starupcommands so that it is run each time Bodhi starts.

delphi, i suggest open a terminal and paste the following:
cat .e/e/applications/startup/starupcommands;.e/e/applications/startup/starupcommands This will show the file, and show what happens when it is executed. Take a screenshot (click on the top left corner icon, take shot) and share it here. Or if you prefer, copy everything and paste in a codeblock here.

yeah typo. I forgot the t in startup. I blame Sharp cuz I copied and pasted from his message cuz I was too lazy to type it out myself, and didn't notice the mistake.

I am sorry about that guys! I forgot to put the "t" in "/starupcommands". It should have read "/startupcommands".

Okay, here is what I got from terminal: xrandr --output VGA-0 --off --output LVDS-0 --primary --mode 1920x1080 --pos 0x0 --rotate normal --xrandr: unrecognized option '--' Try 'xrandr --help' for more information. I tried the above for help: got this: xrandr --help: command not found

Okay your problem is the two dashes at the end of the line. You need to remove them. Not sure how they got there. leafpad ~/.e/e/applications/startup/startupcommands Then remove the -- at the very end, save the file. Problem solved.
xrandr --help: command not found That's crazy. I don't get that. Try again if you want. Should work.

hi there! put in xrandr without --help: got this: Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1366 x 768, maximum 8192 x 8192 LVDS connected primary 1366x768+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 344mm x 193mm 1366x768 60.01*+ 1280x720 59.97 1152x768 59.95 1024x768 59.95 800x600 59.96 848x480 59.94 720x480 59.94 640x480 59.94 VGA-0 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
this does not seem to have anything to do with the issue. I am really limited with Terminal programming When you say 'save the file' where.what file? Getting lost...

When you say 'save the file' where.what file? Getting lost... The startupcommands file in .e/e/applications/startup that we've been talking about this whole time. If you entered the command I put in the codebox, it would open in leafpad. Remove the -- at the end of the line, save it, exit, and problem solved.
put in xrandr without --help: got this: Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1366 x 768, maximum 8192 x 8192 LVDS connected primary 1366x768+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 344mm x 193mm 1366x768 60.01*+ 1280x720 59.97 1152x768 59.95 1024x768 59.95 800x600 59.96 848x480 59.94 720x480 59.94 640x480 59.94 VGA-0 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) this does not seem to have anything to do with the issue. It doesn't have anything to do with the moksha popup error, but it does show you're currently set at 1366x768, and 1920x1080 doesn't appear to be supported. But the command I've been telling you to fix is supposed to set it to 1920x1080. So if I'm right about unsupported, you're just gunna go from one error to another when you remove those dashes.
Is your display even set wrong? If not, just delete the xrandr line completely.
And don't forget to put your touchpad command there, its not there now! (synclient TouchpadOff=1)

Hi There, Okay here is what I done. I put this script into Terminal: leafpad ~/.e/e/applications/startup/startupcommands It opened Startupcommand File which had this:
xrandr --output LVDS --primary --mode 1366x768 --pos 0x0 --rotate normal --output VGA-0 off
I added the touchpad script: synclient TouchpadOff=1 and saved the file. I did a restart. guess what? No prompt came out and Touchpad command worked. I could not believe it. Thank you very much for your help. I am kind of unfamiliar with some of this tech stuff. I went over the information a few times and finally figured out what you were saying. Talk soon... Thanks. delphi4414

Great! Glad its solved.
I bet what is happening is you were also using the display settings app (arandr) to set your video resolution. When you "save to moksha" from there, it saves the xrandr line into startupcommands file. So if you never edited the startupcommands file manually before now, probably what happened is you saved setting to an invalid video mode. Then, when you rebooted and startupcommands ran, moksha reported the startupcommands failure because it failed to set video.
