Would it be possible to add it to the AppCenter? I do not think that they are Open Source, but they are integrated in Escuela Linux. Many users state that they are better than LibreOffice/Openoffice.

Hi Oscarb Strange how it's not in the Ubuntu repos, but a quick look and it doesn't appear to be. Looks like they maintain the packages themselves for a number of distros/OSes, so maybe it has something to do with that. Having checked the github it is open source as far as I can tell. There is an End User Licensing Agreement that needs to be ok'd for a couple of fonts or it won't install, but that's as propitiatory as it gets from a brief look. Ylee does the packaging, so it will be his call as to whether he wants to maintain another package in the Bodhi repo, but the deb file is available on the website in the mean time. You'll need to use the Ubuntu 14.04 and older deb. www.onlyoffice.com/en/download-desktop.aspx?from=desktopOnce downloaded, you can install it by navigating to the folder it's in in the terminal (Downloads by default) and doing sudo apt install ./onlyoffice-desktopeditors_amd64.deb Installs fine, and works fine from just a quick test. Edit - I haven't checked the Esqualez Linux deb, but that might be more suitable in hindsight, seeing as Esqualez is based on Bodhi. Or it might not make any difference. I guess that would need further investigation.

To install from a terminal:
cd /tmp wget https://download.onlyoffice.com/install/desktop/editors/linux/onlyoffice-desktopeditors_amd64.deb sudo apt install ./onlyoffice-desktopeditors_amd64.deb

Ah yes, them and their snaps! Makes sense that they don’t have a deb now. And yeah I meant newer. No idea why I wrote older. Hahaha. I’m getting older and more confused is the only explanation 🤦 Thanks for the correction.

I think we may see this more and more in the future. Ubuntu isn't going to go to any effort to add 3rd party apps to their repos anymore, now that they maintain snap store. Of course they'll still get stuff thru debian but debian has never had as much 3rd party/non-free stuff as ubuntu anyway.
But I'm in no rush to use snap myself! Everything I read about it from Ubuntu Proper users is about how they cause problems and incompatibilities, and even for those who they work correctly, they slow things down.

Yeah, I’m not a fan, I don’t use them and have no intention to, and there are no plans for Bodhi to jump on the snap wagon. I’ve also read and heard a lot of canonical staff are not fully on board with them either for the reasons you mentioned. We might need to follow Mints lead going forward as we are doing now with chromium, given they have a bigger team and are AFAIK also not keen on snap. It’s a big burden on resources compiling from source then building debs. We really could do with a dedicated packaging person.

I confirm that OnlyOffice is usable software. And there is free space for the Bodhi Linux in the section "ONLY OFFICE Desktop Editors are available on..." of the official website of the project. ;-)
