I can answer the first two questions. Yes and yes, though I guess the first question is a statement. But it’s a true one. As for release date, I think as is customary with Bodhi, that it’ll be released when the devs are happy that it’s ready. Shouldn’t be too long though by my reckoning.

Hi Kev We have a todo list for BL 7. It is not 100% mandatory of course but there are some items we should do. Since BL 6.0 I have made tons of Moksha, extra modules and themes fixes or improvements (btw, I have fixed slideshow module a few days ago and fixed file preview widget yesterday). So comparing BL 6 ISO with the current code shape is a pretty big deal. Robert had some real world problems. Health issues, started his job again. Anyway, I am happy he has been working hard these days on removing deprecated libs for Moksha desktop. E_Dbus will be replaced with Eldbus, udisk1 with udisk2 (for example for places module). He will adapt all notification functions in our code (related to new eldbus). The biggest challenge will be reworking my notification actions. Interesting is, the users will not notice anything new after his work but is it a mandatory background work. Very time and energy consuming. So, yes, it is not easy to define the release date. As you can see we have been working hard and waiting should pay off Stefan & Robert

I believe we should never ask when something (which is a gift) will be given to us. We all know i assume what challenges one may encounter with software, sometimes challenges that are over our skills, available time... I personally do not understand why someone should urge to ubuntu 22.04. We all own hardware that does not need latest kernel, drivers, moreover as time passes by, 22.04 becomes more stable. I always installed an ubuntu based distro around September, when i considered most bugs were fixed. As far as Robert, i am sad to hear about this, i wish him the best regarding health issues. It is all that matters, we need him around, not just for solving moksha challenges. I believe both devs have already offered a lot to the community so even if they stopped contributing tomorrow i think they have already offered a lot. I also face serious health problem, i am fighting and hope to be around this community for some more time, using bodhi 6 and being totally satisfied with it...

BL 7 64b with Ubuntu 22.04 core will be one of the biggest distro highlights. Users are always hungry for recent apps (the newer is not always the better, tho ). Bodhi 32 bit will be based on Debian as Ubuntu abandoned 32b support. All the ISO work will fall on Robert. Anyway, you are right ligoxi . Health should be our top priority. Unfortunately Bodhi sort of ruins my health. Massive back pain resulted in MR diagnostics last week and my eyes problems are still more periodic consequnces of tousands hours spent in front of computer screen. My eyes troubles can result in stopping my dev work one day. It was one of the reasons of stopping my Commodore 64 music activities in 2010. Anyway I wish you luck to get over your serious health issues... Stefan

ct scan, mr diagnostics, and many many more in my current adventure...
Back when my problems were lighter, i can understand you, there have been whole days and weeks that my eyes were suffering, days that i wish i could get my eyes out to stop giving me troubles, All because of starring at screens and not blinking at all... I recall saying in a post that our devs are also artists (they write poetic code i had mentioned). So it seems i was wright, you are an artist.
Knowing all this about you, makes your contributions even more appreciated.
So to give me a bit of hope, i dream one day we all are totally healthy, and enjoy a beer without having to worry about when BL 7, 8, 9 will come out. It will come out when many details users ignore are taken care of.

Thanks for the replies.
My computer has slowed down recently, so I think it's best to reinstall.
Some distros like Peppermint have abandoned Ubuntu for Debian. At this point Debian seems more modern than 5 years ago.
I just wanted a general timeframe. If it's 2 months I should wait for Bodhi 7. If it's 6+ months then I should reinstall Bodhi 6 now.
Sorry to hear about the health issues. I am on disability now and can no longer work, at least not full time in my preferred field. It's too physically demanding. I may be headed to a 3rd surgery, this time for my lower back. I've had my shoulder worked on twice.

I expect when BL7 comes out, BL5 will stop getting Moksha updates, is that right?
Initial thoughts: Hopefully bodhi can provide firefox and perhaps nvidia-340; they are no longer offered in ubuntu jammy repos, but are still in ppas.
I'm also happy if there's going to be an official 32-bit release; I assume it's just based on the BL6 legacy beta?
Anyways, I'm looking forward to testing

As far as I know, Robert wants to wait for Ubuntu 22.04.01 release. There should be some bug fixes etc. In case the release will include official 32 b release, I suggest dropping BL 5x as well as BL 6 support. It is not easy to maintain two repos. It is an extra work for Ylee. I can make debs also, but I hate that work and ylee makes all packages I ask for or he needs to put into repo. I take care of almost all dev work in Moksha, modules and themes (and discord and forums support if possible. This way I want to thank all guys in support like Hippytaf, Enigma, Oblio and others I forgot)... Of course new release will need my new video trailer on YT for distro promo. I made one for BL 6.1 but we decided to skip this release and focus on BL 7.
I hope Robert could add some more detailed info here for you.
Stefan

It sounds like Bodhi 7 will be released in about 6 months.
Ubuntu 22.04.01 should be out in October. That's 4 months.
Add 2 months for Bodhi 7.
Maybe I should install the minimal version for Bodhi 6 and add the extra packages I actually use.

Ubuntu 22.04.1 is scheduled for August 4th... That shaves a couple of months off. Maybe the CPU I will install will mitigate the need do a reinstall and I can wait for 7.

other *buntu distros also choose 22.04.01 for having solved the most important bugs, so their release goes usually in the beginning of September.
