Has anyone ever managed to get Adobe Digital Editions 4.5 to work on Bodhi Linux. I have not been able to so far. I first tried with Wine alone and today via PlayOnLinux.

I'm not familiar with it so just quickly looked it up, seems its an epub reader? If that's all it is, there's probably native linux software that's good enough.... or what is your use case?
I have very little experience with wine or playonlinux, but I could give it a try in a VM if you really need this software working...

Well wine certainly isn't simple. I had never used wine before, and learned that 'winetricks' is kinda like the package installer for common stuff, but its not perfect either.... anyways I got this working the following way on clean BL6 apppack which didn't have wine installed already, so version 5 of wine came in a dependency of winetricks sudo apt install winetricks winbind winetricks corefonts windowscodecs dotnet40 cd /tmp wget https://adedownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/digitaleditions/ADE_4.5_Installer.exe wine ADE_4.5_Installer.exe Note that there is a "adobe_diged4" target in winetricks, but when I tried installing that without other stuff, it didnt work right. I would guess if you install the latest winehq and winetricks from upstream, possible could just 'winetricks adobe_diged4` but that didnt seem to work on default bl6 version. Also maybe everything I installed above isnt all needed, but everything is so slow I didnt feel like retrying once I found a method that worked. During the winetricks step, which took a VERY long time, I ignored the warnings and errors, including stuff about 64bit WINEPREFIX and dotnet not working completely, and accepted the microsoft license agreement that popped up. Then I ignored a lot more errors with hexcodes and waited a really long time for it to finally finish. For the final wine step, I accepted the adobe license that popped up and clicked thru the defaults.

I decided to reset the VM and see what it would do with upstream winehq and winetricks. sudo wget -nc https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/winehq.key -O /usr/share/keyrings/winehq-archive.key sudo wget -nc https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/ubuntu/dists/focal/winehq-focal.sources -O /etc/apt/sources.list.d/winehq-focal.list sudo apt update sudo apt install winehq-stable winetricks sudo winetricks --self-update winetricks adobe_diged4 That installed fine first try, but it didn't create a menu entry like it did when I installed it with wine directly. However, running it works, so I made my own desktop file....
