On my Bodhi 6.0-64 bit, there's a bluetooth mouse installed, a Designer Mouse, but from another dealer.
Each time, about a minute after I boot up Bodhi, that mouse is freezing for about 6 to 8 seconds. After that, everything is ok and it doesn't freeze anymore until the next boot or reboot.
Has anybody an idea about what may be causing this and how to fix it, please?

Hello
We need more info about your system events. Open terminology and type dmesg. You will get the system log list. Copy it and paste to pastebin and then show us the link.

OK, unfortunately I can not see any relevant info there
If I were you I would try to install a newer kernel just for a test. Sorry I can not help more...

I just gave it another try. Here's one more pastebin. Maybe this time, there's some relevant information included?

OK, anyway I need more info. The freeze happens after every boot. So both dmesg outcomes should be related to the moment after the mouse freeze. Am I right? What I found on the Internet were suggestions to check the BIOS (some users even upgraded BIOS - be careful please!) or kernel update. Can you tell me what kernel version are you using? Actually, it is very easy to install a newer one and test if helps...
Stefan
EDIT: do you have an another BT device like mouse or keyboard to check if the problem is related to the external device or BT internal HW? EDIT2: is your mouse connected via USB dongle or directly to BT internal receiver?

My BT mouse doesn't need an own BT dongle, any BT dongle will work.
Trying another BT mouse is not possible, because i don't have another one, sorry. Same is with another keyboard.
As for the kernel,... when I installed BL 6, there was 5.13.0-35 included. I updated it serveral times already, so I'm currently at 5.13.0-40, but none of these updates affected the issue in any way.
Trying kernel 5.4.0-109 doesn't help either.

I have looked at our sellers web about your product. Yes, users reviews are about mouse or keyboard instability or freezings. Problem is, the device is connected to a laptop's BT directly. Some users advise buying a BT dongle. I am not sure there is an USB dongle available for this device. Sorry to say that, but it looks like a problematic device. You have some options here: 1. try to find and buy a BT compatible dongle 2. upgrade you laptop BIOS 3. buy a new BT mouse (use different brand) 4. ignore that freeze for a some seconds which can be a bit annoying. Stefan EDIT: I tried my BT mouse with USB dongle without any glitches www.alza.sk/microsoft-designer-bluetooth-desktop-keyboard-cz-sk-d2921221.htm?o=4#recenze

Sorry, my words were misleading, probably. What I wanted to say is this: Unlike similar wireless mice, sold together with their own dongles, this mouse doesn't have its own one. The mouse is just connected to an ordinary BT dongle, that supports all BT hardware, which may be connected to it. So, I do have such a BT dongle already plugged into an USB port of the computer. Your link is pointing to a mouse and keyboard set. I only have that mouse, but my keyboard is different. Actually, it is one with a USB cable, because I wanted to have illuminated keys, without constantly replacing batteries or charging them. Bodhi 6 is btw. the only system with the freezing mouse. There's also a Win10 and MX installed, but the freezing doesn't happen there. Don't know why.

At least, you were trying and I thank you very much for that. Also, I'm still hoping for somebody with an idea for a fix.

I wonder if the pause is due to any system processes loading/starting? I'm not familiar enough with Bodhi Linux boot specifics to know that answer. Unfortunately, I have found bluetooth mice to be laggy on a couple of my systems. I always figured it was either a range issue between my mouse and USB receiver or that my devices were just old and janke (both mice AND systems). I never investigated much and just started using wired mice - the place I used to work with tossed many per year. Sorry that does not help you much. Possibly try another mouse if available and see if there is a difference. Make sure to run updates/upgrades. Otherwise I am not sure as well, though I have been following this ticket. ...let's just blame Microsoft for this one

Originally, I installed the BT mouse, because I wanted to be able to turn on the computer by pressing any key on the keyboard.
In order to do this, I went into the BIOS and enabled the "Boot on USB" feature, but since I first used to have a set of an ordinary wireless mouse and wireless keyboard back then (I mean no BT, but an ordinary wireless model, with one USB dongle for both the mouse and the keyboard), I often started the computer accidently only by moving the mouse.
To stop this from happening, I replaced the mouse and keyboard set with a wired USB keyboard and this particular BT mouse we are talking about here. So, I am able to start the computer with the keyboard as intended, but without mouse movements triggering any boot process.
@ oblio Unfortunately, I don't have another BT mouse, only ordinary mice, both wired and wireless. But none of them are showing any freezing. Actually, I doubt that the mouse is causing the freezing, because if that was true, I guess, other distros would also be affected, which they are not. I've been using this BT mouse for several years now and it has "seen" quite a lot of distros and versions, including previous versions of Bodhi, but no freezes ever, so far.
I always do the updates as soon as they become available.

That's an interesting setup but makes sense. I had only ever played with "wake on" events back when keyboards/mice were PS/2 and I seem to recall just setting my keyboard to do that (they were independent settings...been a while). I had never thought about that on equipment sharing a receiver. Interesting!
I was joking about blaming Microsoft and the mouse; agreed it appears to be distro dependent, unfortunately with Bodhi Linux.
Checking my understanding - the pause only occurs once and then is done with freezing up for as long as the system is up?
What happens if you keep the system up all the time or have the system just screen blank, etc.?
I unfortunately don't have any experience with suspend/hibernate as my system is always up and I only logout and turn my monitor off manually. Possibly those would yield better results than a full shutdown.
I too am out of ideas and only spitballing. Good luck!
