Has anybody tried Google Earth, lately?
I'm running this Google Earth version on a notebook with an intel graphics on a Bodhi 5.1, because of a lack of time, I didn't manage to update to Bodhi 6 so far.
The latest version 7.3.4.8573 doesn't let you search for a location, instead, if you start a search, it crashes immediately.
I installed the previous version of Google Earth using the deb from Google and it used to show only an empty window, where the globe animation should have appeared. I was able to fix this by adding this file
/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf
with this content
Section "Device" Identifier "Intel Graphics" Driver "intel" Option "AccelMethod" "sna" Option "TripleBuffer" "true" Option "TearFree" "true" Option "DRI" "false" EndSection
Google Earth would do without the AccelMethod entry, but I need that one to avoid screen tearing in youtube, in Firefox.
With this file Google Earth does start and the globe is there, too, but after updating Google Earth to the new version 7.3.4.857, using the search of Google Earth results in a crash of Google Earth.
Has anybody an idea about what to do?
Before the update, I used to have Google Earth 7.3.0.3832 which was running fine. I might of course return to that older version but then, each time I start Google Earth, I have this annoying popup telling me there's a new Google Earth available.
How can I get the new Google Earth to work properly, please?
