So I have tried a lot of different linux distros but this problem only occured after I installed mint 20.3 xfce.
I was using bodhi linux which is fast, it boots fine with no problems.
I then installed Linux mint 20.3 xfce which was quite slow and freezes when a USB stick goes in, but other than this would have been quite nice.
I then go to boot my bodhi linux system as usual but it won't boot now.
I just get 'GNU GRUB Version 2.04' black screen with something along the lines of 'TAB lists possible command compilations' instead of bodhi booting as normal.
I would appreciate some help fast if possible as I am unable to use my main OS (bodhi) after installing this. It's done something to the booting that no other linux distro has done.

Hi
Thanks for help so far. Why does this happen?
I type sudo update-grub etc and then get something like 'failed to get canonical path of '/cow'
I've tried typing loads of different commands, such as fixing bootloader etc but all I get is either 'can't find command' or 'need to load kernal first' (?!)
I'm unable to post output etc as it won't let me from grub. Mint has seriously messed up my bodhi linux booting.

I’ve never had much luck fixing grub from where you are. I usually end up reinstalling. You can use a live session to save your files. Probably the least head bending solution.
