Some of our community tend to interact on the forums, some on discord, some on both and some pootle about in the back ground and sometimes break their preference for not chatting, or posting to let us know we're appreciated. It's nice to share these messages when they crop up and so this is one of those messages posted on discord... "I installed Bodhi last year and happily using it š I don't know much about this technical thing and so I don't join the chats.
I only want to say THANK YOU to the top contributors & the bodhi community for the wonderful work. My 2 GB netbook was unusable but now I can easily multi-task. GIMP, LibreOffice & Inkscape at once without any problem."Another happy user  |

@hippytaf could you please suggest this user for instance to use abiword for instance instead of the heavyweight libreoffice? BL does wonders, but when you open a few tabs in firefox, or chromium, systems become unresponsive for instance. Unfortunately, eventually comes a day when a machine reaches its end of life... To make us smile: all my friends know i am a huge fun of distros like bodhi, light on resources, no bloat, minimal, etc. So they say that my main machine must be a kids' tablet. This is told as a joke, but in the end most agree that many linux users, they say a great percentage, is users with dated machines... Do not know, since in my circles i know many IT people with monsters that just prefer linux (mostly mainstream ubuntu, but this is something i also do not understand) p.s. my main machine is not a kids' tablet  |

I dont like Discord. Nothing really works fine at my side.
Meanwhile when i try to login it show me that annoying captcha everytime where i have to click idiotic pictures or ... i login and get a stupid screen where just stands Peeka Boos or such idiotic things and nothing else happenes or it says i have to go to my email cause my location would have changed (whats wrong) aso... to me it is a BS service.

Yikes, sorry to hear that. I dislike the platform also and Weāre not alone. It works fine on chromium here though, I donāt use the installed app. As with many things discord is a bit of a compromise from my perspective. And changing, or even finding an alternative now that irc is pretty much old news, is not simple. Nothing stays the same though and Iām sure the chosen chat platform will also at some point.

I can imagine that it works on Chromium. The seemingly partnership between (spy)Google and Discord works nice *lol or at least the fact that Chroimum is GC code. but i dont use any Google app . In no way. And of course i wouldnt use any app to download at all to use a chat service.
It is a pitty in these days, that nearly everything changes so fast. But well, its we , the customers who tell the "big player" what we are willing to do and what not. Therefore, i dont use their services anymore. Since years, since the existence of overbloat Java, Javascript dominates the internet.
They can take their lame unsecure slowing-down script-shit and put it where it belongs : The toilet  |

Fair enough. Chromium isnāt google chrome though, but it is a heavy browser. As far as I know discord also works fine in palemoon, but I havenāt tried it.

So basically it's Google Chrome, just a bit slimmed down in content. No more Flash (has anyway now done), trademark and logo of Google was removed, etc.. just little things. In the heart, however, it is still GC. The big question that arises whether the -user spying code- with name -FloC- in Chromium is also integrated...?
What is FloC?

Supposedly by default Chromium doesn't call back home to Google servers. This would especially hold true if no Google accounts are linked and used.
I assume all bets are off if people choose to use Google services and accounts.

Iām one of those people that doesnāt care at all what google know about me. The way I see it it makes absolutely no difference to me life. Apart from slightly more relevant adverts. There are bigger issues hinge in the world to worry about. Some faceless corporation that is only interested in mammon worship is already dead by itās very nature. I Very much give no sh@ts lol

Yes, it's true that there are other problems in the world too, but for me this doesn't mean that I put all the other problems on the back burner. But - this is of course my very private, personal opinion. The issue of data protection is a very important matter. From small things become big things, if one does not intervene there at the right time then there will be one day nothing more private. And I don't want that. Because every person has not only his basic right to data protection but also his moral, ethical right to it. I know that in your country data protection is not so important. At least, I have seen and read some. In London alone, the camera surveillance is enormous. How terrible.... I have always been of the opinion: Not everything you can do should be done. |

I respect the right to privacy argument. The stuff I want to keep private never sees the internet. Itās a very simple solution. Stuff I do online is public as far as Iām concerned (apart from my bank account) in the same way I donāt talk about stuff I want to keep private in a cafe. The responsibility is on us to use spaces wisely and not attempt to put the responsibility on faceless soulless corporations that only have one agenda and thatās profit. Expecting by them to be responsible is like expecting a child to not take as much candy as they can carry.
I wouldnāt put my bank statements on google docs, but a tutorial Iām writing!? So what, no oneās interested

I see, so you use Google mail / Google docs only and exclusively to write tutorials.... nothing else... no private mails, letters, to do lists etc...
