We all have our experiences with LinuX and other OSs..... Some have good ones, others have bad ones. Some like the Slimline-Distros some like the Fullsize-Distros.
If you could wish for a special LinuX version, just for your needs, what kind of should that be?
Which features do you NOT want with an OS at all, which features do you WANT?
Its interesting to know....

Moksha just fulfills my Slimline-Distro needs. What i do not know but i am sure ylee is doing, is optimisations to ubuntu bloated base. Do not know what else could be changed in there, and for sure this is more an ubuntu issue, i do not need any feature that is aimed at a server. I need just stuff that is appropriate for desktop - laptop use. Moreover, it would be ideal if during installation the installer identified the drivers needed for one's system, and removed all other unnecessary drivers. Seems ubuntu is the most harware friendly base os compared ie to debian, where one has to do a little extra work to add proprietary drivers. So my wish is a base OS that workd out of the box for my hardware, but also is stripped down as much as possible. Therefore i made some search whether systemd could be replaced in order to gain in performance. So my wishes are performance and stability. Moksha has both, not sure though for base os ubuntu.

It won't be unbiased opinion. And you all know why By all means Bodhi Linux for me. I tried several distros around but Bodhi fulfills my needs better. No need any distro hopping as we developers can make some features we would like to have. Of course our knowledge has some limitations. What functionality do I need? There are some in my to-do list but I will let them hidden for now. As those are very big projects, no promises. Our aim is to have Moksha and stuff as lightweight as possible and provide user comfort in workflow. We are aware of some Moksha weaknesses like Setting Panel with load of chaotic dialogs. There is always something to do and improve... Stefan

Hello friends! I hope that my intentions to open this post were not misunderstood. I didn't want to ask for another distribution , not for another Linux than Bodhi, but what kind of Linux features you want. So please do not misunderstand me. I probably should have named the question differently: -What kind of operating system do you want-.
I say this, cause later last night, i asked myself, if this thread and title could be misunderstood...
I want the following features from a Linux version: 1) The installation should be simple 2) No features like automatic connection to any clouds, messengers, online services. 3) Components like virtual desktops etc..., should not be activated automatically. But the user should activate these components themselves if the user wants that. 4) In general, no automatic default settings should be made. Instead, the user should be asked during installation whether such components should be enabled or not. 5) In the system settings there should be only one big panel, where all system settings are easy to find and not with many small submenus. 6) The foreign language support should be 100% correct. Errors only cause confusion. 7) Current multimedia codex should be available. 8) During installation, hardware routines should clarify via software whether a graphics card can be used in the system or not. Likewise with other hardware such as sound cards, chipset etc.. Backwardcompatibility to older hardware should be given... If the components are not compatible, an installation routine should tell the user that his system is not supported. 9) Web browsers should either be offered by different manufacturers for installation or none. 10) All Google products should not be installed automatically during installation. 11) There always should be two downloadversion. One Slimline and one Fullsize, with Programms, Wallpapers aso... Because i am a user who prefers the Fullsizeversions than the Slimelineversions.
12) It would be great, if there would be a possibility for new users to understand at Linux, how to install downloaded driver or programs, which are gzip, tar or other kind of packed programs. Because pograms like ARC doesnt work on my Distro correctly...
Thats what i would wish for myself.
PS: I know, programmers and users have different needs and preferences. But the trend towards cellphone menus and interfaces is not to everyone's taste. I personally find these menus ugly and repulsive. Maybe that is also a reason why cell phones never appealed to me. Just like all these flat buttons and optics are very ugly for me. That's what I love so much about Enlightenment / Moksha. You have the option of having a somewhat lovingly playful interface. That pleases my soul and eyes.

For many many years (into the future) Bodhi has been quite sufficient.

Great to hear I would like to read your desktops comparison. What a pity you do not have 2 same machines for more objectivity. Stefan

@gini please post screenshots of your setups also. I am interested in how e25 compared to moksha looks and more important screenshots from terminology running top to see ram and cpu usage. Ofcourse other members here can suggest other benchmarks also.

Ofcourse other members here can suggest other benchmarks also. Oh well i am not the typical "screenshooter girl" But i will try then. Promise. But what do you mean by setup? You mean when i am in the installation routine? Dont forget my english.... isnt my motherlanguage. Therefore please be patient with @all
Therefore its better that i ask one time more before i misunderstand ...
Now i just came in, need coffe... right from the bed.

Sorry for being missunderstood. I meant screenshots after you have made all the adjustments to your installations. E25 and moksha after you have tweaked them to your taste. I need to see the aesthetic part also based on your taste. Judging by your movie song choices it must be good

..... I need to see the aesthetic part also based on your taste. Judging by your movie song choices it must be good Ahhhhhh this .. yes that is indeed interesting...I love to see these also of other users. This is anytime soooooo interesting.
Yes, thats why i am a little bit angry cause my first E25BH is nearly ready but there is something missing. The possibility to place Gif animated pictures on desktop. I do not find any possibility.... or at least flash (swf) files. A tool, that loads them and i can change theri placement and size, on the fly. Something that is no problem with windows or OSX. I wonder that Linux does not has such things...
..hmm i dont know... but dont mix that... Because there are so many facettes inside me.....

I quote myself now, to complete my wishlist....
in addition to my list below, i would wish:
13) Ruffle or Flash should also be automatically installable during the installation routine. Yes I know that all this could make the distro a bit bigger to download, so I would put all these things in the APP-Pack distro.
14) Maybe also different kernels to choose from. Because I still do not know how to downgrade a kernel. Nobody tells me...
1) The installation should be simple 2) No features like automatic connection to any clouds, messengers, online services. 3) Components like virtual desktops etc..., should not be activated automatically. But the user should activate these components themselves if the user wants that. 4) In general, no automatic default settings should be made.
