I just installed the newest version of Slimjet 33.0.0.0 The proper ffmpeg file is not available from slimjet. h.264 videos will not be able to be played with the new version just yet. You can check the status of this at: www.slimjet.com/en/libffmpeg.phpYou can test your web browser's ability to play these videos at: demo.nimius.net/video_test/

I’m really enjoying your browser series kev. Are you planning on exploring and sharing your findings of other software After this? I can see it becoming a thing. That would be great!

I second that, i even learned about browsers i did not even know existed... "I’m really enjoying your browser series kev" What i am always interested to learn, is to know which are the differences, good and bad between our moksha E17 fork and current E24. One difference i find and is a deal breaker for me, is the themes. Have not found one i like more than current moksha default arc dark green: extra.enlightenment.org/themes/As seen from below link, e team claims after e21 themes are better? extra.enlightenment.org/Welcome to Enlightenment Extra - the place to get quality, maintained themes and add-ons for the Enlightenment window manager. Over the years Enlightenment has been a very popular system for those looking for a beautiful, unique desktop environment. Keeping up with these expectations has been a significant challenge and there have been many different versions of theme formats etc. Enter "Extra" - since Enlightenment 0.21 the theme format is being carefully maintained to make it easier for themers to maintain their assets. So here you will find modern, high quality and well maintained themes only. Do not know what are the differences between these two for instance: github.com/LeBlue/enlightenment-arc-themegithub.com/thewaiter/enlightenment-arc-theme

I forked LeBlue git repository and was maintaining it for Moksha purposes. Then we decided to rework theme to green color. Since then it became the default Bodhi theme. Anyway I maintain 20 other themes for BL. Feel free to check them in bodhi repository.

Original arc design from horst3180
The above confused me.
"Then we decided to rework theme to green color. Since then it became the default Bodhi theme" I love this theme, no other one seems to be even close to replace the default one in my setup either on a laptop, or on a desktop

I can make an attempt for other types of software. I think media players for mp3 / ogg playback would be my next choice. I'm not very happy with them currently, but I haven't dug real deep into it. All I know is my favorite one, Banshee, is depreciated and has issues with current Ubuntu-based distros, mainly with the importing of files. It's not playback issues with Audacious, VLC and other media players I've tried, more the theme and display of album cover art the way I like it. I've had to run the gauntlet with web browsers back in 2018-2019 when Ubuntu 14.04 (Linux Mint 17) began dropping support for Chromium and regular Firefox began to have some minor issues. I had to adopt ESR to skirt around that issue. That's when I started experimenting with Vivaldi, SeaMonkey and Basilisk.

With Slimjet not being fully functional at the moment, just in case some YouTube video is h.264 which won't work for now, I'm having pleasant results with SeaMonkey as a lightweight backup browser. Basilisk isn't too bad either. So many good choices Christmas time 2021

Out of curiosity I tried that video site on firefox, chrome, and brave. None of them supports MPEG4, but I've never noticed any issues with video playback. I guess nobody uses avi online anymore....

I never recall the MPEG4 option working on that page.
It must not be a big deal.

Ok I'm losing faith in Slimjet.
Version 33.0 was released December 13. No further updates.
They still don't have an official way to add h.264 video support.
Their forums are pretty sparse as well and it takes a minute to find this issue listed there.
At this point I would consider Slimjet a backup browser until they get these issues corrected.
