Execution Error is just what Moksha says when any external program exits/crashes inappropriately for any reason. So not necessarily the same issue as slimjet....
I tried installing from an opensuse build system repository, works for me. sudo apt install -y curl # just incase you dont have it already
echo 'deb http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/hawkeye116477:/waterfox/xUbuntu_20.04/ /' | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/home:hawkeye116477:waterfox.list
curl -fsSL https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:hawkeye116477:waterfox/xUbuntu_20.04/Release.key | gpg --dearmor | sudo tee /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/home_hawkeye116477_waterfox.gpg > /dev/null
sudo apt update && sudo apt install waterfox-g3-kpe Ref: Github OBS

This version G3.2.6 does work from the opensuse repo.
The version G4.0.2.1 is what I originally tried to install from the tar file.
I will test some other web browsers that are not in Synaptic.

is version 4.0.2.1 the "classic" version? I saw both g3 and classic available, wasnt sure which to try, so tried g3. There are instructions for the classic repo from that obs too.... those kinda infos make sense to people who know already, but i came with no knowlege, so didnt know if classic or g3 was the right one to try or which you were claiming didnt work right with bodhi...

Damn there are 3 different ones that took me several links to figure all this out. Waterfox Classic is a legacy web browser for older systems and those that require use of XPCOM and XUL extensions. Waterfox Classic has many unpatched security advisories. Use at your own discretion. Version: 2021.10-classic Released: 2021-11-10 It appears version G3, originally released November 2020 is based on Firefox ESR. G4 originally released October 2021 with hopes to drop ESR and go to a rolling release model. Each version is currently updated. I was trying the latest G4 version. It may be too bleeding edge.

Hmmm yeah well that one works for me too.... dunno. How I installed manually: cd /tmp wget https://github.com/WaterfoxCo/Waterfox/releases/download/G4.0.2.1/waterfox-G4.0.2.1.en-US.linux-x86_64.tar.bz2 sudo tar xf waterfox-G4.0.2.1.en-US.linux-x86_64.tar.bz2 -C /opt sudo ln -s /opt/waterfox/waterfox /usr/local/bin sudo chmod 755 /opt/waterfox # so it can update itself sudo chmod 755 /opt/waterfox/waterfox sudo cp /opt/waterfox/browser/chrome/icons/default/default128.png /usr/share/icons/hicolor/128x128/apps/waterfox.png echo "[Desktop Entry] Type=Application Categories=Network; Name=Waterfox G4 Exec=waterfox Icon=waterfox" >waterfox-g4.desktop sudo mv waterfox-64.desktop /usr/share/applications
If its not working for you, show output from terminal when you run it. If it runs from there but not from menu, attach or paste your desktop file...

I've already deleted the G4 version and installed G3 by your method from earlier.
I just used sudo tar -xf waterfox-G4.0.2.1.en-US.linux-x86_64.tar.bz2 -C /opt/ to install. I will add those other commands you listed on my next install.
The Basilisk browser I was able to successfully install a few hours ago in /opt and it runs fine.
Maybe the Waterfox file I downloaded had an issue, but there were no errors in the terminal.
I will try again with Waterfox G4 to see if it works maybe later today.

The other commands were not all needed just to run it, it's just one way of manually installing it since it wasnt pre-packaged in a debfile. None of it would make it run differently tho. If you just untarred it your home folder and ran it from there, it should work too, but then you wouldn't get an error from moksha so I assumed you'd setup menu entry, etc...
putting it in opt just keeps things more organized and easier for other users to use
the chmod just makes it so it has permission to update itself; only needed cuz opt was used instead of home folder anyway i believe, but learned this method from manual firefox install on debian.
copying an icon file to hicolor makes it the fallback if icon theme has no waterfox icon
creating a desktop file just adds a menu entry

I have tried to install Waterfox G4.0.3 but it is the same problem.
I downloaded from the waterfox.net website and then the github website.
I still get error box: Execution Error Waterfox G4 stopped running unexpectedly
In the terminal I get: Illegal instruction

How are you running it from Moksha to get that execution error box? Can you share your desktop file?
Is "illegal instruction" the entire text? If more, can you share screenshot?

Waterfox G4 is launched either from the iBar icon or from Applications - Internet in the Main menu. The application entry is /opt/waterfox/waterfox and I have also tried waterfox illegal instruction is the only thing the terminal says after I type waterfox. I have also tried ./waterfox [Desktop Entry] Hidden=false Exec=/opt/waterfox/waterfox Icon=/opt/waterfox/browser/chrome/icons/default/default64.png Type=Application NoDisplay=false Version=1.0 StartupNotify=false DBusActivatable=false Categories=Network;WebBrowser; Terminal=false Name=Waterfox G4 Icon[en_US]=/opt/waterfox/browser/chrome/icons/default/default64.png Name[en_US]=Waterfox G4

Yep looks fine. And no other ideas why it wouldnt work. Illegal Instruction isn't a good enough hint; Id see if you can find waterfox support or post issue on their github, etc. There's no reason it shouldnt run on bodhi. Well, other than the sse 4.2 requirement, but if pc from last decade you have that. To confirm hwinfo|grep sse4_2 and you'll see it highlighted in list of instruction sets for every core... (however if no output, that explains waterfox g4 not working).

How were you able to know this waterfox required sse4.2 It says so on the download page www.waterfox.net/download
It's the first time I have this issue with a web browser. I'd never heard of requiring SSE 4.2 til this one, but I am aware of some other browsers requiring SSE2, like all the major browsers, so they wont run on Pentium iii or Athlon xp. Apparently epiphany is the only modern browser that still works without that.

Seems strange that a niche web browser would be the first to introduce this. System1 might be behind it or the dev is just being that way. His answers are pretty curt in regards to requests for providing a SSE3 alternative.
I've already gone through the whole SSE thing on Pentium 3 many years ago. That pc is basically a small table for some books now.
Hopefully the big boys won't go down this path anytime soon. I guess Waterfox is a trial balloon of sorts. It shouldn't affect many Micro and Ape-all computers, but many Linux computers are still clinging to the earlier part of the 21st century.
