While installing mpv from synaptic, an older version of youtube-dl package was also installed. So, I uninstalled it and then ran these 2 commands to install the latest version:
I ran these commands and got this output:
~$ sudo curl -L yt-dl.org/downloads/latest/youtube-dl -o /usr/local/bin/youtube-dl [sudo] password for privurity: % Total % Received % Xferd Average Speed Time Time Time Current Dload Upload Total Spent Left Speed 100 3 100 3 0 0 1 0 0:00:03 0:00:02 0:00:01 1 100 3 100 3 0 0 1 0 0:00:03 0:00:02 0:00:01 1 100 614 100 614 0 0 212 0 0:00:02 0:00:02 --:--:-- 1448 100 1797k 100 1797k 0 0 269k 0 0:00:06 0:00:06 --:--:-- 658k privurity@privurity-Inspiron-N4010:~$ sudo chmod a+rx /usr/local/bin/youtube-dl privurity@privurity-Inspiron-N4010:~$ youtube-dl -F youtu.be/FjzhkVAo7bU/usr/bin/env: ‘python’: No such file or directory privurity@privurity-Inspiron-N4010:~$ python3 --version Python 3.8.10 privurity@privurity-Inspiron-N4010:~$ youtube-dl --version /usr/bin/env: ‘python’: No such file or directory
What should I do to install youtube-dl correctly? (I can attach a screenshot if the above commands and their output is hard to read)
