The mintstick usb image writer would be great to have in Bodhi by right-clicking on image file. Having the ability to open a directory as root from the file manager would be great. And now a real hamster wheel of an idea... Startup and Shutdown sounds

Opening folder as root is implemented in Thunar FM. i.imgur.com/J22dtSN.jpgStefan EDIT: sound. I can remember that discussion in the past. Some guys found it annoying. More over we should have a licensed sound. It looks it falls to me to create one or some other musicians here. In this case each user can add a personal lauchner with "aplay sound.wav" to startup apps list.

I have looked at mintstick, but one of the issues with using a lot of mint software is the way mint has stuff packaged. The localization stuff for example for an app requires the localization stuff for all mint software. And then you have a few libraries and stuff that are only on mint. Not to mention mint specific code is often in their apps. A better option would be to fork mintstick, fix the issues noted above and rename it something else. On startup sounds I once created a wiki article that was on our old wiki about doing like mentioned above as a startup app. A better way of doing it that would prob also support a shutdown sound would be add it to the theme you are using. I will leave that as an exercise for the reader. As far as doing it by default for bodhi or in our themes, we decided in the past not to do it. Too many ppl was opposed to it. That was then and now is now, so I am unsure what our current users think. But only a small percentage of our users post on our forum(s) or hang out in Discord. Hard to tell.

I found an askubuntu page, and found the appropriate way to add in Thunar, Edit ... Configure custom actions. Name: Open as Root Description: Open as Root Command: thunar admin://%f File pattern: * Appears if selection contains: Directories I will attempt the personal startup sound when I can.

Hard to tell. mintstick is very convenient, but not perfect. I could not get a BSD or Kwort to boot after using it, but it does work on vast majority of linux iso I have tried. It's a thought. As far as startup sound, I do not anticipate one out of the box, or a default sound. More like the option to add my own to spice things up. It can add to the appeal when demonstrating to others why they should move away from Window$, especially the ability to change it at the drop of a hat.

Yes, I have my installation too long. It seems I followed some instructions to set Thunar action for context menu. I forgot that fact...

Having the ability to open a directory as root from the file manager would be great. You can. Type admin:///home or any path into the address bar in thunar. You will be prompted for root password twice (this is normal). And now a real hamster wheel of an idea... Startup and Shutdown sounds For startup, just add a command to Moksha's startup file ~/.e/e/applications/startup/startupcommands i.e. sh -c 'mplayer /home/bodhi/Music/startup.mp3&' There's probably a shutdowncommands file too but never wanted to do anything then so not sure without checking wiki...
