Hello dear colleagues from the forum.
I am starting on Bodhi Linux.
Could you please help me to solve the problem with the video and with the Brazilian Portuguese translation?
I went to the menu, Applications, Preferences, AHandR, Outputs, default, Resolution, 640x480, there is no other resolution available, I believe that the video driver is not installed and should be running with some generic driver.
The ISO I used for the installation was bodhi-5.1.0-legacy.iso, without an internet connection. The video card's chipset is Via VT8237R Plus, follow the data with the inxi -Fxz command:
I already thank anyone who can help me. marcelocripe

without an internet connection. these two options will require an internet connection. i just wanted to note that in case you don't have access to one, you can skip these
when i was unsure of how to install video drivers, someone suggested the command
ubuntu-drivers list
will show you what drivers are available for your system and
sudo ubuntu-drivers install
will install them.
that should work hopefully work on your legacy installation just fine.
i chose to install a package called mintupdate (sudo apt install mintupdate) which comes with a program called Additional Drivers that will help you find and install them. it shows you which ones are available and gives you the choice of which ones you want to install. i did not use the sudo ubuntu-drivers install command. i am not sure if that would install all of the available drivers or not. i have not tried mintupdate (Additional Drivers) on a legacy system.

01101111, Thank you for responding. Connected to the internet, I applied the commands you taught me: Did not display the list, I repeated the command with sudo is another process using it? I tried to follow the instructions link: www.bodhilinux.com/w/installing-closed-source-nvidia-drivers/, but it didn't work: is another process using it? If I don’t have help on this forum, I don’t know where to find help anymore, on Youtube I found few videos on Bodhi Linux, on Google what I found on video driver isn’t for onboard video card Via VT8237R Plus (VIA Technologies, Inc. CN700 / P4M800 Pro / P4M800 CE / VN800 Graphics [S3 UniChrome Pro] (rev 01)). Thankful. marcelocripe Original text in Brazilian Portuguese language, translated into English by Google translator. During handling of the above exception, another exception occurred: is another process using it?

it sounds like it might be helpful to update and upgrade your system before trying something else with
sudo apt update
then if that finishes without errors
sudo apt upgrade

Haven't seen that one in a while. I belive there's an openchrome driver for via GPUs. After you fixed your system (previous post) you could show us
lspci -k | grep -A5 VGA to make sure which driver is currently in use for your GPU.

i am thinking that mintupdate might be the easier option if you want to try installing it again. i chose to install a package called mintupdate ( sudo apt install mintupdate) which comes with a program called Additional Drivers that will help you find and install them. it shows you which ones are available and gives you the choice of which ones you want to install. i did not use the sudo ubuntu-drivers install command. i am not sure if that would install all of the available drivers or not. i have not tried mintupdate (Additional Drivers) on a legacy system.

01101111,
After an update, many things changed in Bodhi Linux Legacy, display of the menu changed, exit of the three dots (...) and entry of an image of the "sheet", other changed icons, among them or Terminology, display of new programs, I just not If you received an update or it was after using the command: bodhi @ bodhi-STI: ~ $ sudo to install mintupdate {Enter}, which you taught me.
Now the programs are: Kernel Manager, Livepach, Software and Updates, Update Manager.
As I was unsure about the update program, using the terminology bodhi @ bodhi-STI: ~ $ mintupdate {Enter}, I opened the Update Manager program, editing menus, software sources, open software sources, software and updates, Additional Drivers tab displayed in the message "Searching for available drivers ..." and then displayed in the message "No additional drivers available".
Could you please use the Software & Updates program?
If it was to search for and find the drivers that need to be used, in my case of video driver, no options were displayed.
Thankful. marcelocripe

01101111,
Poderia por favor me ensinar a usar o programa Software & Updates?
Grato. marcelocripe

01101111, I thank you for the information on the link: www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Openchrome/SupportedHardware/ and for helping me. After applying the command: bodhi @ bodhi-STI: ~ $ sudo apt install xserver-xorg-video-openchrome {Enter} password: {Enter} I restarted the computer and the graphics mode starts to be loaded with the background image containing the "sheet", but the graphics mode no longer loads, without then the black screen with the command prompt flashing. I think now I will have to install Bodhi Linux again ... Regardless of what happened, I am grateful that you are helping me, no other colleague is collaborating on this post, unfortunately! Without help, it gets harder for newbies like me. marcelocripe Original text in Brazilian Portuguese, translated into English by the Google translator. ------------ 01101111, Agradeço pela informação do link: www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Openchrome/SupportedHardware/ e por estar me ajudando. Hi marcelocripe, I don’t think members here have any better ideas on how to help than what 01101111 is already doing. Though if they do I’m sure they’ll chime in. I hope you get it sorted 👍

Admin,
Even if I can't get the video to work, I already know that we new to Bodhi Linux, we can count on the support of colleagues from this forum, it makes all the difference.
Before getting here, I tested other distributions and in some forums, they simply do not help newbies and even discourage newbies to continue, without help it is impossible to survive in the Linux world.
I don't know if others have the same difficulty as mine in video drivers other than NVidia, maybe this can be considered by the developers and maintainers of Bodhi Linux, some of Bodhi Linux's own tools for installing drivers.
Thank you for your help 01101111.

Admin,

i am sorry to hear that the openchrome driver not only did not work, but kept you from even being able to boot. that does sound like a good time for a clean installation. if you have the opportunity to access an internet connection while going through that procedure, it is possible the installer might be able to find a more appropriate video driver for you. Hello marcelocripe
I am an owner of Lenovo S12 with VIA chipset. I am not a Linux newbie but I am unable to make my GPU work on Bodhi 5.1. I tried many attempts to solve this issue but I gave up. My only advice to you is installing Bodhi Linux 3.2.1. It is old release but surprisingly can work with VIA GPU (older kernel?). I think it is worth trying.

Stefan, Thank you for responding. I didn't have time to test Bodhi Linux 3.2.1 that you suggested, I even managed to find it at the link: sourceforge.net/p/bodhilinux/activity/?page=3&limit=100#573cb7f334309d443885c8b4. As I did not get information on the ISO above bodhi-3.2.1-legacy.iso or bodhi-3.2.1-apppack-64.iso or bodhi-3.2.1-apppack-32.iso. Not knowing where to find the kernel information for these ISOs, according to the website distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=bodhi the kernel of the Bodhi Linux 3.2.1 version is 4.2, still due to lack of information or know where to find it, at the link distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=antix informs that antiX Linux 16.3 has a 4.4.10 kernel, at the link: distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution= slitaz informs that SliTaz 5.0 has a 3.16.55 kernel, both worked on the computer. I liked what I found in bodhi-5.1.0-legacy.iso, it was very easy to install via graphical mode (AppCenter), it consumes little memory, beautiful and light, but I will evaluate if it is worth testing it or not, there seeing that I already realized that I will not have help here, I prefer and need to be where they at least help me and maybe one day I can help another colleague too, that is, it is better to be in an environment where one helps the other. I thank you for your participation in this post. "We achieved nothing alone, together we achieved everything!"
