Can someone help me install a new USB Bluetooth dongle? Brand MPOW bt 5.1 model BH519A. They seem to be popular but the instruction manual is poorly written, and the posts/fixes vary dramatically. I have tried several posted solutions and its time to give up before I break something. THX I am getting errors from modules not loaded to "Bluetooth Manager stopped running unexpectedly" Here are details of my system termbin.com/ktowHere is the latest solution I tried and did not work at all. forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=345956

Worth a try, in case your system is running on the 5.4.x kernel: 1. Install mintupdate: easylinuxtipsproject.blogspot.com/p/bodhi.html#ID6.7(item 6.7) 2. Within mintupdate, launch its kernel tool (panel: Tools - Kernel Manager) and install the latest kernel of the 5.8 series. 3. Reboot and test.

Duh! Yes you did. Done. Rebooted and it is the same. I get "Bluetooth needs to be turned on for the device manager to function" So I click on turn on and I get "Bluetooth manager stopped running unexpectedly"
jafet@jafet-HP15:~$ uname -r 5.8.0-53-generic

I did. I have a blue light now on the dongle, but I still get a small notification "Execution error" "Blue tooth manager stopped running unexpectedly"

Yay! We have a blue light! But it's a bit of a bummer: I had hoped that this firmware infusion would do the job. Let's see if this helps: echo "options btusb enable_autosuspend=0" | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/btusb.conf Reboot and test. If that doesn't help, reboot from the latest 5.4.x kernel and test again. In the kernel manager tool contained in mintupdate, you should be able to select the kernel you wish to reboot from. Alternatively, you should be able to select the 5.4.x kernel in the Grub bootloader menu (it's tucked away under the header Advanced).

So... When I booted this morning the blue led does not turn on The first option --> echo "options btusb enable_autosuspend=0" | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/btusb.conf did not work The second option --> -The kernel manager only lets me select 5.8.0-50 instead of the current kernel: 5.8.0-53 -The grub boot loader also only shows 5.8 option, none for 5.4. I looked for sites to solve this and I didn't find one with clear instructions, most divert into diatribe

So... -The kernel manager only lets me select 5.8.0-50 instead of the current kernel: 5.8.0-53 In Kernel Manager, click on the button with the vertical row of three dots (on the top right). Then a dialog window expands in which you can select the kernel with which you wish to reboot (if you have at least two kernels installed, which should be so in your case: you should also have the 5.4.x.). If rebooting into the 5.4.x doesn't help any, we'll need to try another approach. Look at it from the bright side: you've bought a notoriously difficult chipset, but in trying to tame it, you learn a lot about your system.

I am in fact learning. You should see my notes. They look like a plan to invade a small country, arrows, text, brain maps, the works. *I could select kernel 5.4.0-73 because it was not "installed" it was just listed in Kernel Manager. So I installed it, rebooted from it. Sadly, it didn't do anything, same error: "Execution error" "Blue tooth manager stopped running unexpectedly" *I noticed that unders startup apps/system/ there is an option to include a "Blueman Applet" should I include it in the startup list of apps?
